Re: WU Indoor Temp

For grins, I tried to construct a URL using indoortempf . Actually, I forgot dateutc which I believe is required, and got the reply below, a syntax summary, which doesn't include indoortempf . RapidFire Server usage action [action = updateraw] ID [ID as registered by wunderground.com] PASSWORD [PASS...

Re: WU Indoor Temp

Hi Paul- Regarding p.s. my own question: is there a way to check what Cumulus actually sent to WU (I've checked the ftplog but can't see anything in it)? Some few years I was uploading to Weather Underground from my hosted web-server because the interface to my PWS didn't handle it directly. The WU ...

Re: My home brew system

Hi Lloyd- I'm approaching, or maybe in retirement and I see in this sort of tinkering a way to keep the brain working a little. For my part, the loss of technical skill is more the result of increasing management responsibility - and little discretionary time for hobbies. Love your site. Mine is far...

Re: Intermittent WU update error

This isn't an urgent issue in my mind, but it does seem to occur pretty regularly - maybe on the order of 10 a day on average. I was looking at a couple of posts on this again and wondering if there was some other tracking that could be turned on. Looks very likely that within a 24 hour period I'd m...

Re: CumulusMX Hangs, Slowdowns, and Failure Modes

Mono Threads I've been tweaking what I monitor and it seems to me mono is misbehaving for me - though CMX might be contributing. I'm running mono 3.2.8 which seems to be the general recommendation. The local dashboard seems to updating every 3 seconds when I watch it, and observations seem to be po...

Re: CumulusMX Hangs, Slowdowns, and Failure Modes

I'm a little concerned about load average at the moment, and I suspect it's tied to CMX or mono. Here's a plot of the past 3 hours or so from a log I'm maintaining. pi_proc_loading_20171009_145006.jpg Normally, as you can see on the left, the load average barely registers. Then I seem to see some cy...

Re: Source for station update time displayed on CumulsuMX Interface

I ran into this today. I checked both clocks versus https://www.time.gov/ and found my PC (browser host) was off while the Pi server looked very close. I decided to tweak the registry on the PC to make it update more frequently. (Thanks for the tip.) It was set to 604800, or once a week. In tinkerin...

at System.Net.WebConnection.HandleError(WebExceptionStatus st, System.Exception e,

See also http://sandaysoft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=16311 Mostly FYI I was looking at the most recent log in /MXdiags I noticed a caught exception that shows up periodically. It doesn't seem to be causing issues on the Cumulus MX side. Weather Underground (the WU prefix I assume) looks OK,...

Re: CumulusMX Hangs, Slowdowns, and Failure Modes

FYI - using the free space number on the buffers/cache line of free, mem usage looks like it's staying in the 10-12% range after a couple of days.

Thanks Simon!

Re: CumulusMX Hangs, Slowdowns, and Failure Modes

Linux will use ram in a different way than Windows for instance. a nice explanation here: http://www.linuxatemyram.com/ if you could zip the MXDiag folder up repost the zipfile Steve and a few others could take a look to see if there is anything obvious in the MX files to help diagnose the issue. T...

Re: CumulusMX Hangs, Slowdowns, and Failure Modes

I've cobbled together a couple of scripts to monitor various things as I try to sort out what might cause an issue. I agree with @Toxic17 that the desirable thing is to eliminate the issues as they arise if possible. One thing I'm watching at the moment is memory usage. Cumulus has been up for about...

Re: Degraded allocation warning messages

In case anyone else runs into this message, I thought I'd mention what I just posted to http://sandaysoft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=14753&p=126335&hilit=nursery+size#p126335. In a nutshell, it seems setting an environment/shell variable for mono did the trick for me... MONO_GC_PARAM...

Re: RaspberryPi: CumulusMX init.d System Startup Script

In case anyone else runs into a nursery-size warning, i.e. Warning: Degraded allocation. Consider increasing nursery-size if the warning persists. I added the following line to my systemd service file [Service] Environment=MONO_GC_PARAMS=nursery-size=8m I was seeing the message every time I rebooted...

CumulusMX Hangs, Slowdowns, and Failure Modes

I'm working on a sort of CumulusMX " watchdog " script to run alongside of Cumulus on a Raspberry Pi 3. Basically I'm having to restart CumulusMX periodically, and I'd like to automate this as much as possible. I'm using systemd to manage CumulusMX (e.g. http://sandaysoft.com/forum/viewtop...
