Re: WeatherCloud update: The Task was canceled

I've had this issue for about two weeks 2018-01-23 22:50:21.867 WeatherCloud update: An error occurred while sending the request. 2018-01-24 00:01:40.654 WeatherCloud update: A task was canceled. Log files are full of those. I've not seen the first of those yet. In the other thread I mention in the...

Re: WeatherCloud update: The Task was canceled

I take it your using a good source for ntp? you have the correct time on your system? I point most of my servers and devices to uk.pool.ntp.org I've not changed from the defaults, *.debian.pool.ntp.org. Anecdotally I know it tracks much closer than my PC. I fiddled with the PC a little to improve i...

Re: WeatherCloud update: The Task was canceled

OK - Some ping results... I let this run over 10 minutes just to see if there'd be a spike somewhere. There wasn't. I would say the average was roughly around 150 ms, and the variance on the order of a couple of ms. 64 bytes from weathercloud.net (188.164.192.31): icmp_seq=240 ttl=53 time=150 ms Wea...

Re: WeatherCloud update: The Task was canceled

DNS issue perhaps? just guessing. seems a rather strange occurance from your system if now two websites are having the same issue of uploading data to the internet. any heavy net use on your network affecting throughput or bad LAN cables? I'm just thinking out loud. can you ping WU api and weatherc...

Re: WeatherCloud update: The Task was canceled

Here's a little speculation... Having done a little work in asynchronous communications, it occurred to me that the fact that WeatherCloud states that the upload frequency is fixed at 10 minutes , it is very likely they have created a (uneven) loading problem for themselves. Cumulus appears to be ve...

Re: WU update: The Task was canceled

OK ... I started a new thread, WeatherCloud update: The Task was canceled because I had some more observations I wanted to share.

Spoiler ... the timing seems to have changed a little as of this morning.

WeatherCloud update: The Task was canceled

This is a spin-off of WU update: The Task was canceled . Over the past couple of days I've see some odd behavior with WeatherCloud updating / observation posting. I suspect they changed something which slowed down the reply to an update. I haven't found anything about the protocol by the way, but it...

Re: WU update: The Task was canceled

Yeah Simon - I have read some of it, but hadn't seen the WU Trello board. I actually started digging into wxforum when I realized my webcam wasn't updating (and I posted a little to https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=33258). I was looking for WU alternatives. From the Trello board, webcams cont...

Re: WU update: The Task was canceled

I ran into this today. I have a watchdog on the Pi watching for various conditions and hadn't been looking for it previously. Stumbled onto after about 4 hours stuck in this mode - by looking at the WU site. I'm going to suggest that at least part of the issue may be within CMX. That is based on jus...

Re: at System.Net.WebConnection.HandleError(WebExceptionStatus st, System.Exception e,

Got an email this evening where the WU folks acknowledged the issue over the past week. The text of it is in http://sandaysoft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=16481&start=15#p128386 I also noted that I've run 36+ hours with seeing this exception, and my data and webcam now look intact on the ...

Re: looks like wunderground have messed up again

I've run about 36 hours without a burp in diags, or that I can see on WU, and at some point my webcam is back. ---------------------------------------------------------- A few hours ago I got this email... From : Weather Underground [mailto:support@wunderground.com] Sent : Friday, January 12, 2018 5...

Re: at System.Net.WebConnection.HandleError(WebExceptionStatus st, System.Exception e,

Here's an interesting data point ... Not one of these exceptions were logged over the past 5 hours. Quite a contrast to seeing them with, perhaps, 80% of the attempts - once per minute.

This will make my diags log noticeably smaller!

Re: Discussion of Various Shared Sites for Observation Data Upload

You certainly make some valid points, and if negative, you offer a well-reasoned assessment in my opinion. I'm clearly much more more of an amateur than you and many others in this game. From a very quick skim of the "academic" paper I cited above, you might find it interesting. Data quali...

Discussion of Various Shared Sites for Observation Data Upload

Gentlefolk- As I start this thread, a lot of people are experiencing what I'd call fragility with Weather Underground. I've been posting to WU most of this decade. For me it begged the question of what are the pros and cons of the alternatives available. Cumulus MX natively supports a variety of opt...
