How to upgrade your Cumulus MX to a newer version https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/viewtopic.php?p=148477#p148477 Is this still applicable / recommended for MX v3.10+? https://cumuluswiki.org/a/Updating_MX_to_new_version (still) points here. https://cumuluswiki.org/a/New_Default_Web_Site_Information d...

Packaging / Distro Thought Regarding webfiles-legacy
I suspect, in time, there will be very few people using webfiles-legacy. For the sake of reducing the number of folders in the distro, and overall size, would it make sense to zip webfiles-legacy ... a zip within a zip?

Bob

Single Purpose Directories / Folders
First, I confess I've net yet broached crossing into Release 3.10.0 - build 3115. So I apologize if this is now moot... Part of my reservation in updating stems from not fully understanding the purpose of each folder. Let me add to that my use of rsync via ssh - because that's turned out to be the m...

Re: Option to *Append* to ServiceConsoleLog.txt
Mark- Yeah, your point is well taken. I did investigate 2 things quickly. The same information may be in both logs - perhaps using different terms. I didn't find exact parity, but close enough. I still see value in the ServiceConsoleLog.txt**, which I've made available from the admin dashboard in my...

Re: Cumulus MX Software Upgrade Available Check Feature
OK, the default is zero, so the alarm will be cleared after a maximum of 10 minutes. It looks like you managed to catch it within one of those windows - after the daily check. Not sure what your plan is going forward, but I'd gently lobby for a default of 24 for that particular alarm. I've messed m...

Thanks, got the issue - humidex! Try changing chartshistoric.js at line 185 to this... I'm seeing the issue as well. I put the code snippit in a file and diffed side-by-side. What I already had was identical 2021-01-16_21-47-17.jpg The version I have is dated as follows... $ find . -name "char...

Re: Cumulus MX Update Helper Script
Build 3099 vs 3100 Results Occurred to me the third directory (the installation) could be optional. To compare 2 releases I " cheat " and effectively tell the script the install is exactly (the same as) the reference version. $ ~/cmxaux/walker.py CumulusMXDist3099 CumulusMXDist3100 Cumulu...

Re: Cumulus MX Software Upgrade Available Check Feature
One last report ... Yesterday I reset the alarm interval to 24 (and saved). Sometime after the latest version message showed up in ServiceConsoleLog.txt just before noon, the indicator did trip as expected. I think I would want it to latch until the software is updated so I believe the settings show...

Startup/Shutdown External Programs
I like the idea of the new "Program settings", and this might be thought of as a generalization of that. If available, I would take advantage of the ability to run some code when Cumulus starts, and when it shuts down. I was reminded of this in writing out https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/vie...

Option to *Append* to ServiceConsoleLog.txt
No doubt this is a personal preference, but in almost all the code I write log files are only ever appended to. The "pruning" of the logs is a separate operation; sometime built in, sometimes external like Unix logrotate (https://linux.die.net/man/8/logrotate). That preference comes out of...

Re: Cumulus MX Software Upgrade Available Check Feature
So this is a little odd. I restarted CMX (several times now) and it appears that it resets the Latch hours to 0. When I look at the ini file it appears to still have 24. 20210114_202652_Alarm_Settings.jpg The last few backups shows it was set to 24 $ grep UpgradeAlarmHours backup/20210114*/Cumulus.i...

Re: Cumulus MX Software Upgrade Available Check Feature
Yes, if you get that message, the next thing it does in the code is trigger the alarm. Could you screen shot your alarm settings page as well please. 20210114_192650_Alarm_Settings.jpg So if I follow this, setting the latch time to 0 would effectively disable the alarm. So I tried setting the inter...

Re: Cumulus MX Software Upgrade Available Check Feature
On start-up, and once a day at a random time for each run of MX. Mark, would you expect the indicator to trip around the time a message gets written to ServiceConsoleLog.txt? It's coming up on 3 hours since the log message and the indicator is still green. I've flushed cache and tried several diffe...
