Re: Lightning detector WH57 from Ecowitt
Hans, The 79 second transmit frequency is only for the quiescent state. If there are several bursts of lightning the data gets tranmitted immediately Here is a dump from my sql database of lightning hits last year and as you can see they are all within a 79 second span. Timestamp 2022-09-05 19:00:03...

Re: Lightning detector WH57 from Ecowitt
The distance data is so sketchy at best. I've picked up lightning at 80 miles and picked up no lightning with an overhead storm. I've also only counted 5 different distances, so a min/max distance seems pointless. I agree, while monitoring blitzortung and my own WH31L at the same time, the distance...

Re: Homemade weather station question
I create my own data stream based on the Ecowitt data protocol and send it to: "http://CMX_IP:8998/station/ecowitt" I used to use easweather.dat format but have long since deleted any old files relating to this . You could try using the url above first .... However I found that the ECowitt...

Re: Solar Sensor
RTL_433 needs to be configured for what data it is receiving. For example if the lightning receiver is running Protocol 190 must be set , if Soil moisture then protocol 142, for the Fine Offset wh1080 weather station proocol 32. These protocols are the defined data streams for these devices. Not sur...

Re: Solar Sensor
I use pushover https://pushover.net/ to send a message from my linux box to my mobile phone. if you are detecting the spikes in a python script this is easy to setup. def msg_phone(message): conn = http.client.HTTPSConnection("api.pushover.net:443") conn.request("POST", "/1/...

AIr Quality - Road Surfacing!
I live on a relatively new housing estate and the road in front is about to be surfaced and the "heavy duty kit" has arrived and started it's process. My sensor (PMS5003) is at the back of the house on the garage and the work is being done at the front. None the less this is the AIr Qualit...

Hans,
OK thanks...
Didn't want to repeat any work!
Sorted by reading the date stamp in realtime.txt every 15 minutes from another pi and ensuring it is different .....

Alarm
Hans, I presume you monitor within utils when the last data set was generated by CMX so that the Status led is red green or flashing red. Is there anywhere that this status can be read as occasionally my Pi locks up (and so does not TX an Alarm). It is only sometime later that I notice and would lik...

Re: email alarm options?
I also use and recommend pushover for sending data to my mobile. Great value for money...
Been using it for several years for cmx and my aeroplane tracker pi.
(I have no contact with pushover except as a user)

Re: Adding Lightning data - hybrid Cumulusmx setup
Ian, Well done... I am using the HIVEMQ broker so to get the rtl433 data I use the following in my rtl433.service file. ExecStart=/usr/local/bin/rtl_433 -d :00000100 -p 15 -C si -F "mqtt://192.168.1.15:1883,user=xxxxxn,pass=xxxxxxxx, retain=0" -d is the device id code ( had to change it as...

Re: Wunderground crocked?
Overnight it seemed to take one of my postings every hour according to today's weather direction page. CMX is configured for every 5 minutes!
