Re: Trend graphs

Noise more than power consumption ... I have a script that allows me to wake the computer remotely. I'm guessing it's in a bedroom if you can't leave it running overnight. That's where laptops or even netbooks are ideal. Virtually silent. My netbook has been running since May 2009 with no significa...

I’m curious, why not? The screen can be switched off on a laptop or monitor and the power consumption will be pretty small.

Re: Advice regarding additional web address from 123-reg

Thanks Paul but I think I'll follow Steve's advice. It seems to be nothing more than a marketing strategy to raise their income.

Visitors to my site probably have it bookmarked anyway. I also link to it in my sig in various fora including this one.

Advice regarding additional web address from 123-reg

My website address - http://www.cheadlehulmeweather.co.uk - has been registered with 123-reg since April 2009. I have received an email from them advising the address http://www.cheadlehulmeweather.uk is reserved for me and will be free for use for two years. They said business rivals may wish to us...

Re: Storm Aileen to hit UK tonight - possible new wind records

Simon,

Those are showers and we've had the same today with another 0.23" (6mm). Aileen is now over Denmark so today's rain is not as a direct result of the storm.

Re: Storm Aileen to hit UK tonight - possible new wind records

I'm afraid the Met Office got this completely wrong. Max gust of 35mph and 0.03" of rain since midnight. But this station was in the amber warning area with gusts estimated to be as high as 75mph.

No great gusts yet but pressure is falling very rapidly. Not a good sign.

Storm Aileen to hit UK tonight - possible new wind records

With Storm Aileen due to hit the UK tonight there seems to be a high possibility winds could gust to 70mph. That would mean a new record for this station in NE Cheshire.

Previous highest for this station was 56mph on 12 Feb 2014 and 55mph back on 23 Feb 2017 when Doris hit.

Re: 3000 days of Cumulus!

That's 6 miles. I would certainly expect different stats with that distance. My garden is enclosed on 3 sides so even moving up the road to a more open plot would make a difference. Once classic stat. In Jan 2010 the overnight min at my suburban station was -11C. Two miles away at my rural work's ca...

Don't you have to wipe your records clean with a change of location? Unless it's only a short distance of course.

3000 days of Cumulus!

Another landmark day today for this station. 3,000 days of weather collected using Cumulus. :D

Thank you Steve for creating such a wonderful utility. I'm still running v1 but it does all I need so why change?

Here's to the next thousand days!
