Re: New Record? Post here.

@rogerthn,
That is seriously impressive for your latitude. Atlantic air has reached the UK now. Lovely and fresh! :D

I agree. That's 0.04" in old money. I set the trigger at 0.01" as I can get quite a few days with dew recorded.

Re: Take a look please?

Harry, A couple of tips. 1) updates every minute are unnecessary. I’d suggest 10 or 15 minute intervals. 2) You need to edit some of your all-time records. A minimum of 0C and wind gust of 125mph are unlikely in this present heatwave. There are instructions in the Cumulus Wiki on how to tidy them up.

Re: New Record? Post here.

This years longest dry period 96 days Friday, June 15, 2018 And my record dry period since I started my station 127 days Monday, July 7, 2014 Came close to breaking our High temp record today too with 118.3F, but my record is 121.2F from back on June 20th, 2017. Well you do live in what we Brits wo...

Re: How come?

If your station is in a suburban back garden the nearby houses generate a lot of heat. My maxima is always 1-2C higher than Manchester Airport - 3 miles to the west. In the very cold winter of 2010 my overnight minima was -11C but 2 miles away at my very open and rural work car park my car thermomet...

Re: 2018 - An exceptional (ongoing) summer for the UK

Thanks for clearing that up Mapantz. It did appear out of character. Most of our weather is driven by the jet stream and for a couple of months now that has taken an unusual turn with severe kinks over SW Europe causing poor weather in that part of the world back in May when the sun just kept shinin...

Re: 2018 - An exceptional (ongoing) summer for the UK

I wasn't making a direct comparison. Some parts of the media are doing that. I'd be interested to see the source of your data you use for comparisons. My solar panels have smashed records for May, June and almost certainly, July. My June average is 3.3C above average and July 3.5C above average. Rai...

2018 - An exceptional (ongoing) summer for the UK

The summer of 2018 in the UK is now being compared to that of 1976 which for those of a certain age represents the 'ultimate' summer. I consider a reasonable summer's day to be one where the temp reaches the magical 70F mark. That's 21C. Here is a query from my Access database showing the count of 2...

Re: New Record? Post here.

This station's all-time driest period ended on 12 July with 26 days of no measurable precipitation. Beat the previous record set back in 2011.

Re: New Record? Post here.

Paul, yes, rare times indeed. The green and pleasant land is not so green these days. Somewhat different to the usual description of an English summer - three fine days followed by a thunderstorm. There is rain about 20 miles south but only localised. WE may get some but probably not. Only 8.5hrs to...

Re: New Record? Post here.

Record was out by one day after a power cut messed the PC up. Seven year record broken for longest all-time dry spell. It seems unlikely it will rain today so I'll be back again tomorrow... :D

Ditto! But in a perverse sort of way I do get excited when the possibility of a new record is about to be broken. :D
