Re: VP2 status

Billy, I was considering holding off of my VP2 purchase in April 2009 as I thought a VP3 might just be around the corner! I can only agree with everything Paul has said about the Davis kit. It's extremely well built and will last you many years. The only thing that has given me trouble was the...

Re: Site going down.

Ray, I see you now have added a line for 16th on http://www.cheadlehulmeweather.co.uk/dayfile.txt, so you have everything sorted for now. I still have a bit of curiosity as to what went wrong, so I have a question or two for you. Cumulus does a daily backup towards the end of its rollover process, ...

Re: FTP

Hi Freddie, you must be a pilot! They stick to GMT or UT wherever they are! :D

My garden is surrounded on 3 sides by houses so that keeps things a bit warmer. Cloud has come over too.

Fingers crossed on the malware front.

Re: FTP

Freddie, I just noticed your banner time is showing GMT rather than BST. Not relevant to ftp of course but just wanted to point it out if it needs changing.

Re: FTP

Freddie, you're a star! Thank you VERY MUCH for sorting the ftp problem out.

My home page looks fine. The Data Summary page hasn't updated but I'm guessing that may be because data for 16/10/18 isn't present in dayfile.txt. I'll have to add that manually.

Is the server clear of malware?

Re: Site going down.

Pleased to report I have an entry in dayfile.txt for the 17th. The 16th is missing so I'll have to add that manually. I'll use the data from WU. It was an unremarkable day weather-wise so no other data needs editing.

Re: Suggested web site hosting offerings

Gents, Thank you all for your helpful suggestions. It’s doubtful I would host my own site as I don’t possess the right skills to keep it safe. I have used cPanel a couple of times but with hand holding from my host. I use FileZilla for file copying which seems easy enough and I have all the paramete...

Re: Suggested web site hosting offerings

In case I have to switch do I need to supply the new hosting company with expected monthly consumption? My limit with Steve is 50Gb and as he's never warned me it's been exceeded I assume it's fine. But given things are out of your control to some degree it's difficult to know. In unusual weather vi...

dc1500 wrote:Ray, it's only the 17th today so you would never see the dayfile.txt file for the 17th till after midnight.

The last entry is for the 15th rather than the 16th. Hopefully I'll see an update for the 17th tomorrow morning.

Re: Site going down.

Good luck with the mooring. Do you have to sit crossed-legged when you eat? Hope you enjoy it.

On a separate note in case others want to disable FTPing I removed the update interval (15) and that stopped the updates to the server but WU and WOW continue.

Re: Site going down.

Thanks for that Steve. I’ve unchecked Auto Update in Configuration - Internet plus the 3 real-time options. I’ve also closed Cumulus Toolbox and then restarted Cumulus. Dayfile.txt hasn’t been updated. Hopefully that will happen at midnight. As only one day may be missing it should be possible to cr...

Re: Site going down.

Hmmm. I'm a little concerned because the updating of dayfile.txt ended just after midnight on 16/10/18. How will Cumulus generate data for each day when it eventually gets back online?

I thought that dayfile.txt would remain up to date on my computer.
