Re: Site going down.

I created a dummy certificate when I enabled secure ftp on the server when testing the code I added to Cumulus MX. Filezilla will try to use secure ftp in preference and will get the dummy certificate. I suppose I should really disable secure ftp on the server, I get asked about this regularly. The ...

Re: Site going down.

I believe the malware is no more, although there is still a slight oddity to be explained, but this apparently is not doing any harm. Hetzner are going to review after two days. After which I will re-enable the outgoing smtp port so that mail from the forum will start working again, and hopefully th...

Re: Site going down.

I don't really have much to offer, I just deleted installations of things like Wordpress and Drupal which hadn't been kept up to date. This entry (and others similar) in the apache log looked suspicious (thanks go to Ken for suggesting that a suspicious POST was something to look for) and from googl...

Re: Site going down.

The bad news is that I haven't been able to find the source of the infection and it keeps reinstalling itself. I have now blocked outgoing SMTP. This means that amongst other things, steve@sandaysoft.com will not work, and neither will forum registrations. I have spent all day on this and now I am r...

Re: Site going down.

Hopefully I have prevented the malware from being activated now and have asked Hetzner to confirm that the server can stay up. They were actually very helpful once they had blocked the server.

Re: Site going down.

Just a quick post as I am trying to fix things. The server was blocked and it appears Hetzner were right all along, once they told me what the likely malware was, I was able to find it and remove it. Now looking at stopping it recurring. No idea how it got in but Wordpress is a likely candidate. As ...

Re: MXDiags always on, sometimes adding 2-3 GB per dayiles

Then the best thing to do would be to look at the diags file to see what is being logged frequently.

Note that the there is no setting to turn off use of the diags files, you have presumably turned off something else.

Re: Port Numbers ...

An example is given in the announcement post containing the download and the installation instructions: When Cumulus starts, it will display the URL of the user interface. It runs on port 8998 by default; if this is not suitable for some reason you can over-ride it using the '-port' parameter on the...

Re: MXDiags always on, sometimes adding 2-3 GB per day

I inadvertently made the uploading of realtimegauges.txt default, without regard for whether uploading to a web site is configured. If you don’t have an ftp server configured this will cause an error to be logged every few seconds. If this is the cause, you can turn it off in the internet settings.
