Re: realtimegauges.txt not updating locally

Assuming that you haven’t changed any settings, you could try

Restarting Cumulus
Deleting the realtimegauges.txt file
Looking in the MXdiags file to see if there are any error messages about the file

Re: Gust speed 1dp?

What type of weather station do you have? Google wasn’t any help with “Congestus”. Are all of your other wind speed values displayed and logged with 1dp? Could you please post a few lines from your dayfile.txt?

Re: Cumulus startup anomalies on my suspect hardware

I can’t be much help, other than to repeat what I said previously that the console isn’t good at doing more than one thing at a time, and logger download is one thing that occupies it in such a way that it can appear to freeze temporarily, and I guess losing contact with the ISS may be a result. Thi...

Re: noaa_report not uploading

When you start it up and it downloads the logger data from overnight, it should then do the NOAA upload as part of the next web update. Possible problems are that it isn’t downloading the logger data for some reason (but then you would see other issues), or there’s some network problem stopping the ...

Re: password

It’s the password for the station (I think WU are now calling it a “key”) not the password you use to log in to the WU web site.

Re: Twitter Token

Not unless there’s some way of obtaining the tokens without needing Cumulus to get them.

Re: Twitter Token

I’ve just remembered that Twitter changed their API again and Cumulus can no longer obtain the tokens.

I’ve added this to the MX FAQ.

Re: Twitter Token

When it tries to obtain the tokens, Twitter says “Client is not permitted to perform this action”. I don’t know what would cause that. Have you tried putting in your username without the @ on the front, that’s how I’d normally expect to see it.

Re: noaa_report not uploading

When you say you can't see anything in the FTP log, do you mean it's empty or there is nothing about the NOAA report in there? It should happen when the first normal upload (non-realtime) happens after midnight. I think the dishes file should have a message saying that the NOAA upload will be done a...

Re: Rain - "This Year" issue

I would have to look at the code to see how it handles this, but I’m happy to just concede that it’s a bug or a “feature”, to save me having to do that (as looking at the Cumulus 1 code is now quite difficult). Sorry that you find the FAQ “far too technical”. Meteorology is a very technical subject ...

Re: Pressure difference on WU

All looks fine to me. The WMR88 has a resolution of 1 hPa. Your temp graph looks like that because it’s only covering a small range. Cumulus doesn’t do any smoothing, it accurately plots the data.

Re: Cumulus receiving wind data problem

1. Spike removal doesn’t operate on logger data anyway.

2.Yes

3. I can’t suggest figures, it depends on the wind profile where you are. Start high and work down if necessary, is my advice.

4. I don’t know.

Re: Cumulus receiving wind data problem

I can’t seem to view the diags file as I’m on my iPad, but those wind spike settings were far too low. If you look in the diags file you should see messages about the wind speed being ignored because of spike removal.

Re: Problem: Error on exiting CumulusMX on raspberry pi

You can’t, it’s referring to a software thread, not something you have any control over. The (third party) ftp component is presumably trying to release the mutex but the system thinks it doesn’t hold it now (probably already released it). Possibly a minor bug in the ftp component.

Re: Problem: Error on exiting CumulusMX on raspberry pi

A mutex is a flag which controls access by multiple program threads to a single resource.
