Re: Sunshine Recorder

In deep sadness I must inform that Alan passed away last night after some months stubborn struggling against cancer.

As seen in this forum Alan announced his idea 12 years ago and it catched my interest a few months later.

I visited Alan and his wife 11 years ago in Cornwall.

Re: Sunshine Recorder

The most probably cause of error is the sun record file from yesterday. Open the file C:\BLsunrecorder\SunRecords\2017\11\Sun_20171111.dat with Notepad - it should look like this (with different values and probably several SUN entries). SRS = sun rise / set TOT = sunshine total / no records NRC = no...

State of the art - sun recorder

My last contribution in this thread is about 5 years old so I thought it would be appropriate with an update. Almost 8 years ago (June 5. 2009) Alan entered this thread with his idea of how to measure sun shine duration. It caught my attention September 2009, and Alan and I started a friendship with...

Re: Sunshine Recorder Price discussion

We deeply regret that some of you find the sales price of our sun recorder too high but we must correct a few points: Since we started our collaboration we don't recall we ever headed towards a DIY project although in Alan’s very early days of light bulbs and simple circuits that was a possibility. ...

Sun recorder – Summer Sale.

Sun Recorder - Summer Sale (or: Winter Sale in the southern hemisphere). Although we do have sun recorders spread on representative areas of the world, we now wants to boost the sale a little. The sales price for the next 5 orders will be GBP 290,- including shipping – that’s 30% off the normal pri...

Re: Sunshine Recorder

Correct - I do have a Davis with solar radiation sensor but problems are: To use the solar radiation to detect sunshine requires a direct solar radiation sensor while the Davis is a global radiation sensor. WMO has defined a threshold for sun shine as 120W/M2 direct radiation Our sun recorder is a o...

WEB Cam IP address

Might probably be a very simple issue but please advice: Recently I bought a very cheap USB WEB cam from Microsoft. Besides its lousy color performance I can't understand how the IP address in Yawcam can be configured as Yawcam simply tells No IP address found. Is a decent USB Webcam born with an IP...

Re: Sunshine Recorder

Long time - no hear. Just an update on that we have now a test installation in operation in Venezuela. Location is just 10° north of equator and we are now looking forward to see how the sun recorder will perform so close to equator. You can follow the performance as usually for all the test sites o...

Re: WEB files transferred - file size zero

Thanks mcrossley.

What a difference such a small difference between 'i' and 'I' can do

WEB files transferred - file size zero

I am trying to get my Cumulus web page into operation.

The different files are transferred to the ftp server correctly as far as naming is concerned but file sizes are 0 ??

Most probably a tedious question

Re: Sunshine Recorder

Not yet - we might be close to equator soon but still in the northern.

And actually all the functions of the sunrecorder is independent of either northern or southern hemisphere (maybe a software bug or two might be present).

Best regards
