Re: Cumulus and ftp

I am now up and running. Though their welcome email put me off as every link to help pages was broken and ending with a 404. I raised a ticket and pointed that out. But bad form really. Had a box to say I was recommended but didn’t see a space for a name Ray. Happy to oblige if you can point the way...

Re: Cumulus and ftp

Firstly many thanks to everyone who has contributed. It has been so very helpful. I did think one work around might be to upload individual image files via a command line script using something like Winscp. But Ray’s suggestion I would like to follow up as the actual host isn’t particularly importan...

Cumulus and ftp

Hi, I’ve had notification from my website provider (IONOS) that from next year only sftp instead of ftp will be permitted. Wondering if there is something I can do to adapt my current Cumulus version (1.9.4 build 1098) or will I need to migrate to a different package. Many thanks for any help. James.

Re: Davis VUE transmission not received

I can now add an update. I took the ISS indoors and tried it in various positions but with no joy, so I dismantled the unit. I remembered that I had stored away a previous failed transmitter unit as its called, it was actually the rain detector relay which had failed, but the RF section had been OK....

Davis VUE transmission not received

Good day, Yesterday all communication from the ISS to the console appeared to stop. The console continues to work in the sense of reporting internal temperature and barometer, but cannot receive anything externally. If I go into setup under the receive from section I eventually get a number 8 appear...

Vantage Vue rain detector repair

Good day folks, I am one of those rare but unfortunate folk in the UK who have had three failed rainfall units for the Vantage Vue. So when Davis service in the UK sent me the last replacement I took advantage of the situation to do my own checks. I take the ISS apart and replace the transmitter kit...

Re: Opinions of the Vantage Vue?

I have had a Vantage Vue for about two and a half years now, and my only problem has been with the rainfall recorder element. This has failed now on three occasions, each necessitating a dismantling and the insertion of a fresh transmitter kit. In fairness, the two replacements have been regarded as...

Re: Vantage Vue rain detector frustration

I haven't seen the insides of those Vue's but usually the mechanism for measuring rainfall is pretty simple. You say that if you manually tip the bucket it does read ok? So that means the transmitter and reed switch seems to be working. Maybe it needs a clean? There could be some gunk freezing up t...

Re: Vantage Vue rain detector frustration

Cumulus supports the Hydreon RG-11 sensor. It's not really intended as a 'gauge' as such, but can function in that way if a high degree of accuracy is not too important. See http://www.weatherstations.co.uk/hydreon.htm for more details. Thanks for that Steve. I guess I would need to somehow connect...

Vantage Vue rain detector frustration

Hi friends, just to let you know I think I have hit the buffers with regards to my Davis Vantage Vue and it's rain-gauge module. The original complete unit was bought in august 2012. (It is a UK model) It ceased to report rain after about six or so months if my memory serves me correctly. Anyway, th...

Re: Another rain reading problem

Just to update and conclude this thread. I got in touch with Davis UK service department and we agreed that it was probably a premature failure of the rain reed switch. As I am computer savvy they agreed to send me some replacement kit which I have now fitted and am pleased to report that the statio...

Re: Another rain reading problem

Ping John Dann! I see you mention an informal 2 year warranty in another thread. I filled in an online report form about a week ago regarding a failed ain sensor (after just 15-16 months) - but as yet no reply. Just wondering if The Weathershop is likely to reply? At the moment I have a very expensi...

Re: Another rain reading problem

Many thanks
I looked at a rain pcb unit online, so I am now leaning towards that area as the problem one.
If you have come across any disassembly instructions I would be glad to know ;-)
Cheers
