Re: Windy.com now accepting PWS data

I have been uploading using Cumulus MX for a couple of days, but without the pressure reading, as it is set to hPa. When I have tried including the Pressure item it appears to cause the feed to stop altogether- after removing the Pressure item then Windy starts to update again. mcrossley seems to ha...

Re: Windy.com now accepting PWS data

As indicated in the earlier instruction, I have made use of the Custom HTTP call - minutes, in Settings | Internet Settings in order to update the Windy PWS every 5mins. It seems to work fine, except the problem of the Pressure (Windy wants Pa, Cumulus provides hPa). PWS is using RasPi, Cumulus 3.0....

Re: Windows 8

I'll be remaining with an old XP laptop, dedicated to run Cumulus and a Webcam for as long as it holds out. It's aging battery is just enough to guard against most power outages and use of "Remote Utilities" (replacing LogMeIn Free) provides remote access for those occasions when YAWCAM gl...

Re: Windows 8

My Cumulus "server" is an old Compaq laptop that was thrown out by a client - it's only job is to run Cumulus, uploading to a Web site and Weather Underground, also a "weather" cam uploading every 10 mins. Low power consumption for 24/7 use, it is managed via Remote Desktop - its...

Re: Future data formats

I can see the potential benefit in storing in SQL, however the simple text also provides useful access at times, even if via a spreadsheet. My main concern in opting for both is whether that would place higher demand on the system, unless there could be an option to disable the SQL. My current setup...

Re: Cumulus Hanging

Everything was good for a long time until this morning. I looked and it didn't update. So, I closed it down, went to restart and it just hangs. I restarted the computer and tried again, same thing. My Fine Offset appeared to do the same thing, after running for ages. It's on 24/7, using an old, ded...

Re: Rainfall since 00:00

Thanks for that Gerard. At least now I'm in sync with you and Gordon! ;) Do you keep your rollover time at 9:00am all year or switch to 10:00am during daylight savings? No, I have "use 10am in summer" unchecked as I don't understand exactly what it does but have not had any problems with ...

Re: What screen resolution does your Cumulus PC use?

I have indicated the use of 1024 x 768 (XVGA) in the vote as the PC now linking 24/7 the Weather Station to the Internet is an old Compaq Armada E500 laptop - this uses much less power than when I used one of my desktops (normally running at 1280 x 1024). The ability to use a low performance PC is a...

Re: High CPU usage in build 983

Having seen the recent discussion I reckoned on going back, but Build 982 is no longer saved locally and can't find online. Is it available anyway, please? Not from me, I don't even keep old beta builds. Could you not just turn off the animation? Sorry Steve, I should have read through the thread m...

Re: High CPU usage in build 983

Ooops! Only noticed the high CPU load after reading this thread, and had (for the 1st time!) deleted it off the NAS drive. On an old Athlon XP 3200+, with no specific apps running and < 50% RAM load, Build 933 goes staright to full CPU load and stays there. Ver 1.9.0 runs at 0 - 3% C load. Having se...

Dayfile - Random differences between 1.9.0 & 1.9.1

Yesterday we had a high wind gust but 1.9.0 showed it as a record (45.0) but 1.9.1 did not record it, but an old one. So, I looked at the dayfiles for each instance of Cumulus (never run simultaneously) and found many, very random differences inthe data, not just the Wind Gust on 4 Feb. I first inst...

Re: Fine Offset anemometer repair

Can't use WD40 on rubber (as far as I know - because of the mineral oil content). I must admit frequently being confused over some of the attributes of WD40 - I am unsure about its long-term lubricating properties for bearings or locks. However, looking at their Web Site it does confirm that it can...
