Re: Cumulus mis-handling VP2 temperature sensor failure?

I don't know what the internal cct board(s) are like, but have you considered giving it a good spray with a PCB lacquer? (such as this http://www.maplin.co.uk/pcb-lacquer-25345) The problem is that there's a humidity sensor in there too, so it would be a bit tricky. We found a cheaper and quickly s...

Re: Anyone got any fairly massive data se

lardconcepts: At some point I was stuck in the same manner than you with the Excel limits and bad behaviors, (I was trying to convert old pre-Cumulus data to the Cumulus format), but I solve it learning some scripting PHP and writing a script in that language...Was a good solution because there is a...

Re: Temperature sensor failure - best method of dealing with

Same scenario in this corner of the world.. Marco-Luis, which one, the 'cannot buy from the same supplier' policy/rule or that any governmental departments can get around (avoid, dodge, skirt, sidestep) the policy/rule by including very specific technical specifications in its bidding process (spec...

Re: VP2 - Wired vs. Wireless

Dear GlynH, Beginning this year at work we purchased 4 Davis stations (2 wired and 2 wireless), but only the wireless units arrived equipped with the solar & UV sensors. We purchased the units from http://www.forestry-suppliers.com/product_pages/View_Catalog_Page.asp?mi=38971&title=Davis+Van...

Re: Cumulus, USB, and 1-wire

Thanks for the suggestion, however adding $100 cost ($44.95 + shipping per end) before integration to convert 1-wire to RS-232 would be a deal breaker, I think. The concept was to utilize those 1-wire modules most long time weather hobbiests played with at one time or another, in a product that cou...

Re: Cumulus, USB, and 1-wire

Hi Charlie, As I said before, lack of wireless will not be a "deal breaker"... but surely will be a "-1" in the evaluation. Francisco Charlie, Since I am licensed radio amateur, Telecoms Technologist and work for a small meteorological unit in a research center, it seems a very ...
