Re: Regular Linux Mint failures with latest MX build

you can try searching for your usb by running lsusb this will show all usb devices you can also add -v to get more details. Re: Regular Linux Mint failures with latest MX build

Understood! Right now it seems to keep hold of the port. I can't connect once it crashes. I have to restart the system. If I could figure out what port it is connecting to I might be able to kill the process but I haven't been able to find it. ;-) It's emulating serial through USB.

Re: Regular Linux Mint failures with latest MX build

Ok. It's likely the driver or something. I'll see if there are any updates. Would this be something you might address in a future build? Thanks for all your help!

Re: Regular Linux Mint failures with latest MX build

Which is what you expected, right? Can a recovery timeout be increased or is there any clue as to what might be causing it?

Re: Regular Linux Mint failures with latest MX build

Ok, Steve, finally got the log files! They are attached. LOL It crashed again this morning. Strange, Weather Underground used to send me emails when I stopped reporting but I've noticed they are cutting back on a lot since TWC bought them. I haven't had an email in months.

Re: Regular Linux Mint failures with latest MX build

Hey Steve, I thought I read you were on vacation! No need to reply if you are! Yes, it abnormally exits Cumulus MX back to the command line. I SHOULD have debugging turned on due to some issues you helped me with in the spring. It does tell me to zip up the log files and send them in. I can do that ...

Regular Linux Mint failures with latest MX build

Hi all, Curious if anyone has run into this problem. It seems that my Cumulus MX crashes about every few weeks on Linux Mint. It probably doesn’t have anything to do with the OS itself but not sure. Unfortunately when it dies it locks up the serial port and if I try to restart via script it says it ...

Re: Davis Pro 2 (fm 1.7.3) and Cumulus MX not reporting to Weather Underground

Steve, You're right. My bad. I looked at my old .ini file and realized it WAS the station id as well. Not sure why I got hung up with my user id. LOL Yes, I realize the http/https is not a simple change. Integrating certificates and whatever SSL library you are using is not simple. I appreciate the ...

Re: Davis Pro 2 (fm 1.7.3) and Cumulus MX not reporting to Weather Underground

No I understand that but you typically don't pass a URL directly with a password. Regardless it's ok and working. Whatever floats their boat. IBM owns it now.

Re: Davis Pro 2 (fm 1.7.3) and Cumulus MX not reporting to Weather Underground

Another question related to this thread but not part of the problem. I notice that it's sending a REST call for the WX API? The password is getting embedded in the link. Is that a good idea? I assume the WX API is taking https so it SHOULD be encrypted but I'm surprised they did that.

Re: Davis Pro 2 (fm 1.7.3) and Cumulus MX not reporting to Weather Underground

Ok I changed the interval but also figured out the reason why it wasn't sending data was because I used my username for Weather Underground instead of my station ID. This is different I think. In the 1.x version it required the username.

Re: Davis Pro 2 (fm 1.7.3) and Cumulus MX not reporting to Weather Underground

Ok that makes sense. I completely missed any error in there. Too many log debuggings in my other gig. ;-) I ran Cumulus 1.x for 7 years. I didn't think but I probably could just use the original .ini file. I wasn't sure if I'd break something by doing that though I did see it can be done.

Davis Pro 2 (fm 1.7.3) and Cumulus MX not reporting to Weather Underground

Hi all, Very excited to get Cumulus up and running on Linux! Thankfully no more dealing with Windows. I've worked through several issues so far by reading the forums, faq, and posts but I'm stuck at the moment with Cumulus MX 3043 not reporting to Weather Underground. It did an initial report when I...

Re: Which Linux flavors are most successful so far?

Nice. Ok I went with Mint Linux and so far it seems to be working really well. Not much to it so I would expect it's pretty stable across the board. Way nicer than dealing with all the Windows crap.

Which Linux flavors are most successful so far?

Hi all, I've been running Cumulus 1 for 10 years now and about every two years the machine I have bites the dust. I ressurect an old machine/laptop and re-install everything. This time I have an old Inspiron 6400, which ironically, I had Windows 10 64-bit running GREAT the past year but a recent pow...
