Re: Fine Offset Station data errors

Generating Domestic Electricity using PVCs

I'm seriously thinking of having an array of photovoltaic cells (PVCs) installed on my roof, even though I expect the payback period to be pretty lengthy. Does any contributor to the forum have any experience of having this sort of system installed, and using it, in northern latitudes (I'm in Northu...

Re: Interesting PIC based home built station

I immediately thought Image.

No doubt it would have a suitable Scandinavian name, like "Precipitat", "Søla", or "Klimat". And no doubt I'd buy one (and find it had a part missing when I got it home...)

Re: New be Just starting

Once you've got it installed you can add to the enjoyment by carrying out simple DIY modifications to the rain sensor (see this this thread , amongst others), wind vane, and even the louvered screen surrounding the external thermometer/transmitter unit. A wander through the "Homebuilt" sec...

Re: New be Just starting

Yep, this is what I use - I got mine from eBay for around £85. It works well with Cumulus - which is far, far better than the Easyweather program which comes packaged with the weather station.

Another DIY Modification to the WH1080 Raingauge

Having pondered the suitability of the out-of-the-box WH1080 rain gauge (see this thread ), I decided to modify it to incorporate an ordinary domestic funnel with approximately the same catchment area (55cm2). The mounting is made from Slaters plastikard, and is a simple interference fit over the or...

(4) Wildlife, ecology
(5) Cars and driving

No prizes for spotting the odd contradiction in there.

Re: I know it rained yesterday - but the station dont think so?

I have a similar problem, but wonder if it's me rather than the equipment which needs calibrating (I'm a complete novice). This morning, for example, there was a rain shower which didn't register on my 1080. It didn't last very long, but would certainly have necessitated the use of windscreen wipers...

Badge Engineering: Is a 2080 Effectively a 1080?

Hello everyone - I've recently subscribed to this entertaining forum, and am enjoying using the Cumulus software very much indeed. As a newbie I have quite a lot of questions, as you might expect, but will start with the one which puzzles me most. I am almost certain that my weather station, recentl...
