Re: Some issues noticed with MX 3043

Hi BigOkie, Thanks for the tip, I had not noticed this discussion on the udev rules -topic. I'm currently running MX on Rpi3 with Ubuntu, and I'm already using the start-stop-script, so your connection monitoring script should also work very easily. (My profile still shows Windows 10, since I'm runn...

Re: Some issues noticed with MX 3043

Looked at the diags log. All it says that data input seems to have stopped. Since this is the first connectivity issue on over a half a year of running MX I'm not too worried. Just thought to mention about it when reporting the daylight issue. In fact, this was the first case ever (since 2010) when ...

Some issues noticed with MX 3043

Hi Steve (and all), Just noticed, that daylight calculation is still not working properly here on Finland, where daylight is currently available 24h... Cumulus 1 shows correctly 24:00, but MX shows 00:00. Day length calculation differs for one minute, but that can be caused by decimal rounding being...

Re: Issue with windows timesync and "restart if data stops"

It always makes me laugh when people tell me "it should be easy" ;) I'll see what I can do. P.S. Your suggested algorithm is flawed, which kind of proves my point ;) Glad to make someone happy. But since you managed to publish a fixed version in less than 7 hours that kind of proves...

Re: Issue with windows timesync and "restart if data stops"

Ok, thanks for a quick answer. I just recently switched from XP to 7 and had not noticed that win7 has a scheduled event of running timesync, but that definitely can cause issues. Maybe this could be worth mentioning on the readme? I think it is likely that this starts to raise questions more now wh...

One way of dealing with Fine Offset station usb lockups

Hi All, Just to let you know how I resolved the issue of losing data because of a station usb lockup.... The solution is running two consoles with one outdoor sender unit. If my "main" console locks up, I shut down Cumulus, connect the "secondary" console and start cumulus again....

Issue with windows timesync and "restart if data stops"

I just noticed a minor issue with windows os automatic clock adjustment and "restart if data stops" -setting on cumulus. For some reason my pc clock had drifted so much forward, that windows adjusted it 10 seconds backwards. Bad luck was that the adjustment happened at 1:00:02, and rolled ...

Re: Uploading to server

Why can you not attach it here? Everyone else seems to manage. There are instructions in the post linked to near the top of the forum - "Please click here before posting...". You just click the "choose file" box, browse for the the file on your PC, and then click "add the f...

Re: Replacing station with a new one?

Hi Alan, Yes, I'm at least partially aware of the radio clock feature. :D I think the user manual said that it tries to get the clock time during night time when there is less radio disturbance. If I remember correctly (it has been quite a while since the last battery change), the station synchroniz...

Re: Replacing station with a new one?

Hi Alan,

Thank you for the clarification. The outdoor unit sends data every 48 seconds if I remember correctly, so it should be rather easy to put the batteries in "at the right time" to reduce the possibility of a wrong "pairing".

Best Regards,

Sami

Re: Replacing station with a new one?

I was thinking that I would run two stations with two outdoor units at the same time until the new one works properly and I'm ready to remove the old one. If I have understood correctly, Fine Offset stations synchronize the sender and receiver after connecting them to power. And I presume, this shou...

Re: Replacing station with a new one?

Ok, thanks Steve for a quick answer. What will happen if I start the new station a day before the switchover to give it time to synchronise time with radio clock etc? And then shut down cumulus, disconnect the old station, connect the new one and start cumulus? Will it cope with "duplicate data...

Replacing station with a new one?

Hi everyone, Is there something special to do before replacing a station with a new one? I have now over 3 years of data, and don't want to lose anything. Searching this forum did not bring help, and the FAQ or readme do not say anything about this? In my case I would be replacing a Fine Offset WH-1...

Re: Rain rate graph and constant rain with 1.9.4 beta 1082

I'm not sure what your point is. Is the graph ever worth showing? You would like an option to blank out the graph when the rain rate happens to be just under a tip per 5 minutes? You could just not look at it ;) My point was, that the graph looks like it is "broken or something" if you lo...

Re: Rain rate graph and constant rain with 1.9.4 beta 1082

Ok, that explains it. Would it be difficult to implement a user configurable period for the average calculation? Or should it just count it for 10 minute period instead of 5 minutes? Or is it just me who thinks that this graph is almost not worth showing at all when it is like my example? PS....
