Re: FTP

I just don't see the need for BST or any other form of daylight saving on servers. Good websites and client software will show dates and times using their local timezone. It is 100% needed when using Mark's historic highchart graphs. Specifically, viewing solar and sunshine data plotted by the hour...

Re: VP2 status

"A lemon" ? It's a modular station, so it can't be a lemon by itself. Two faulty anemometers, two faulty solar sensors and a faulty rain base, that's five lemons. lol I concur. How about a lemon tree? BTW, has anybody ever had 100% humidity on the newer temp/humidity sensor? Mine is...

Re: FTP

Hi Freddie, you must be a pilot! They stick to GMT or UT wherever they are! :D I have fingers in many pies, but I'm not a pilot! I just don't see the need for BST or any other form of daylight saving on servers. Good websites and client software will show dates and times using their local timezone....

Re: VP2 status

I like my VP2 but i've had a lot of replacement parts in the 2 and half years i've had mine. I'm on my third solar sensor, third anemometer and second rain collecting base in that time. Sounds like you got a lemon :-( I've had mine 11 years and all I've had to replace is the temperature/humidity se...

Re: FTP

Freddie, I just noticed your banner time is showing GMT rather than BST. Not relevant to ftp of course but just wanted to point it out if it needs changing. Hi Ray, I keep all my systems (except desktops) on GMT. Saves problems with clock changes! I noticed our temperatures were in synch earlier, b...

I haven't seen any sign as yet - but there's a lot of looking to be done still.

Re: MSL Pressure

I have added an offset to bring it in-line with what I believe to be the correct MSL based on local stations reported on darksky.net This site could well be using forecast data - particularly for its "now" values, so I would use with caution. Maybe check out Ogimet or similar for up-to-da...

Re: Site going down.

No problem. I have been using Cumulus software for 8 years, and it is nice to be able to give something practical back.
I'll check back later in the week.

Re: "So far" day rainfall out of step with hourly totals

That was my first thought too - a question of timing. But the tip didn't register in the previous hour's total either, so it was effectively lost from the hourly totals from the day. That was the bit that caught my attention as I couldn't account for the tip at all. I'm happy, though, as it wasn't l...

"So far" day rainfall out of step with hourly totals

Since changing my twitter.txt to report both hourly rainfall and day total so far, I noticed a discrepancy last night. Tweet for 2100 UTC: 2100 UTC: Wind N 0.0 kts. Temp 17.1 C (max 09-09 21.8 C at 13:54, min 09-09 16.4 C at 09:00), Dew pt 15.7 C. Bar 1015.31 hPa, Rising slowly. Rain last hour 0.0 m...

Re: Behaviour of "today" tags at the end of the day

Thanks for reply, Steve. That is fair enough. I have thought of a work-around in the interim - have two versions of twitter.txt, one with the "today" tags and one with the "yesterday" tags, and use a Cron job to switch between the two at 0830 and 0930. Hope you are well and settl...
