mac mini G4 - no dice
Have an old but good mac mini 1.42GHz PowerPC G4 runnibng MacOSX 10.4.11. Tried to get it to run Cumulus MX by downloading the last Mono compilation (2.10.5 - it said it installed OK) that would run on the G4 but the Cumulus MX would not run, it was missing something (::MakeArrayType()). I just note...

Re: Parts for Sale/Wanted
Many thanks for taking the trouble Terry but I think as Alan says it will not give me all the data or facilities, plus the shipping, terrorism checks, x-raying, customs etc (how did we get to this state?) from NZ and then the same again if have to send it back doesn't really make it a goer. At the m...

Re: Photos of the insides of Fine Offset sensors.
Have had the covers off the receiver console and it does not look too good. There is not much there that looks as though it can be modified. IMG_0163.JPG IMG_0162.JPG IMG_0161.JPG If I am going to use the WH3080 transmitter which works at 868MHz with my receiver at 433MHz I'm going to have to modify...

Re: Photos of the insides of Fine Offset sensors.
The transmitter module from Nevada Radio works at 868 MHz whereas my signatrol WH3080 works at 433 MHz. I have found this out because the new transmitter will not connect with the base station. Looking at the specification sections of the Nevada and the general (and Signatrol) WH3080 gives the usual...

Re: Photos of the insides of Fine Offset sensors.
An update on my new transmitter. I contacted Fine Offset but have heard nothing and I contacted Signatrol and Nevada Radio who both replied promptly and helpfully. Nevada had the WH3080 (which I went with) and Signatrol had the WH3081. So at the time writing dear reader (as Jane Austen would say) a ...

Re: Photos of the insides of Fine Offset sensors.
Many thanks Alan, My best bet seems to be to find a replacement transmitter for the WH3080. Will research and report back. Have sent an email to Fine Offset but do not hold out much hope unless I want to buy an industrial quantity of them.

Insides of Fine Offset Transmitter
Am just resurrecting my WH3080 and have bought a new transmitter from Maplin - the original WH3080 was from signatrol but died and could not be resurrected. The new transmitter has a different aerial - a curly wire instead of a ferrite rod but the control panel can receive the signal and connect so ...

Re: Fine Offset PCE-FWS 20 wireless
I have my FWS-20 up a pole on the summerhouse. Not the best as the ridge of the summerhouse and the surrounding trees will distort the wind, but good enough for my purposes which is to put weather info on a website (HarryWarrenHouse.com - weather side may be down at the moment) and have fun with the...

Re: Hourly rain > Daily Rain
My question is to do with rain data files. When my WH3080 went on the blink with the batteries not receiving enough charge, or rather too much charge being drawn from them, some very over enthusiastic rainfall numbers found their way into the log files ( in excess of 9m a day). I have edited these o...

Re: WH-3080 Transmitter Batteries
I got the soldering iron out and ran a cable from inside the shed to the battery terminals of the WH3080 and connected it to a 3v mains transformer. This works nicely and I'm back on line (www.harrywarrenhouse.com/weather/Weather.shtml) although while it was down the system seems to have logged 10m ...

Re: WH-3080 Transmitter Batteries
Thanks for the info, Alan. I have put the Eneloop batteries in and I have the "low Tx" icon already. I could test the Solar Pod and get another or I could send 3v from my shed straight up to the station - bit of a pain but it will either cure the problem or move it on to a new level. Am OK...

Re: WH-3080 Transmitter Batteries
Thanks for the helpful reply, Alan. I had not realised that these were rechargeable alkaline batteries rated at 1.5v. Anyway your prediction of the time scale for the Duracells was right as they have now run out and I have to replace them. I want to replace them with a "trouble free" recha...

Re: WH-3080 Transmitter Batteries
I'm just getting the same battery problem and will take Phils advice and put in good quality duracell type. When I measured the voltage on the rechargeable alkaline batteries they were each just below 1 volt so the sun cannot have been charging them. Even though it's winter the sun has been reasonab...
