Re: Site going down.
Thanks Mark. Have done some research on cPanel. It looks to me as though I have to get cPanel to generate a private key for me, which I store on my pc. Then when I log in, cPanel will ask me to accept its key. The only snag I can see is that my log in setup on MX needs an extra field for the private...

Re: Site going down.
Quick question for Hostpresto users. Does Cumulus MX works ok with it? I've been with TsoHost for years, last month they stopped simple ftp and I can't upload to my website.
Not too impressed with their help either.

Re: New hosting advice
Thank you for the recomendations. Being of a parsimonius nature, this was going to a last option, having recently paid £45 odd for the next 2 years. I decided to ask politely if my level of payment did not justify any more support. That seemed to strike a chord, they have been very good since, and m...

New hosting advice
Cumulus has been running fine for a long time with a slightly altered standard website, but recently I've had problems with uploading data to the hosting service. It has got to the stage that the hosting service seem to have lost interest. I'm sure it would be a different story if I was paying a lot ...

MX webpage self update
Little bit confused here about the standard Cumulus MX web page. There is a setting in the control panel under settings - web/ftp for the upload interval. The figure entered here is shown on the web page thus: "The weather station in use is the Fine Offset, and these pages are updated every 2 m...

Re: I wish Cumulus would be LINUX compatible.
Steve, I have happily been using Cumulus for about 2 years now, and have only made one donation. I have just made another small donation. I would be happy for a paid Linux version, whether it be a one off payment up front or an annual licence.
Thank you for all your hard work.

Re: Cumulus and wine/linux?
Sounds a bit too "pre" for me. I'm not that well educated in Linux, would'nt have a clue how to compile a kernel. Look forward to when its a bit more user friendly.

Re: Cumulus and wine/linux?
Steve, I have a WH1080 and a Raspberry Pi sitting waiting for this project. I'd be happy to be a beta tester (or even an alpha tester!) if needed.

Re: New webhost required?
I thought about it, and knew it was only a matter of time. Vidahost gave me a 10% discount to stay and upgrade. When I went to pay for it I found I had some cash in my Paypal account I'd forgotten about... Vidahost: Cumulus never once showed an error. The website loaded much quicker. cPanel has all ...

Vidahost: £58 + VAT = £69.60. 3 years £69.60/36 = £1.93/month E-rice: $10.00 (incl VAT) = £6.28. 1 year £6.28/12 = £0.52/month I have just retired and have many hobbies, in no particular order - wife and THREE daughters, a sailing dinghy, radio controlled model aircraft, computers in general, plus o...

Re: New webhost required?
An update. I've gone back to E-rice. Seems that E-rice calculate bandwidth only on download, i.e. browsing. Anything uploaded is not counted. They obviously keep prices low by giving only a basic service Vidahost count everything up or down as bandwidth, and my usage was going to exceed the allowanc...

I've ordered "HTML5 in easy steps", and requested notification when Version 5 Javascript in easy steps comes into stock. Might just drop a hint around the family for
