Sorted, and now back on the air....
Problem traced to the mains / USB power adaptor. It strangely had enough output volts to light the RPi up, but not enough to enable the RPi to be able to run, nor enough to power the FO LCD display.

System off the air
:groan: The first indication was that I was unable to connect to the Cumulus MX webpage. Checked the FO display, that was apparently working and lit up by back lights (via a bypass). Checked the RPi red power LED lit and was flashing it's green LED about once per second or so. Then my microwave pack...

Re: Grass dry enough to cut
A Leaf Wetness Sensor maybe? It sited right it might emulate a reading similar to the wetness of the blades of grass. Soil Moisture could indicate when it's wet & boggy. An idea I came up with long before I ever bought a weather station - was to have a go at building something to measure the so...

Re: Grass dry enough to cut
Grass dryness would also depend on grass length and lawn exposure (not to mention your blade size, cutting efficiency and cross section area of the duct you mention), so it might be tricky to have a dial that could provide useful results. You may benefit from doing some analysis of your weather dat...

Grass dry enough to cut
I have a too large garden for the usual walk behind mower, but it's a little too compact for a ride on tractor, but a ride on is what I use because it is quicker, more convenient and seems to use less fuel anyway - usually that is, unless the ground or grass is too moist... When the ground is too we...

Re: Rain Gauge failed
Well, that fix didn't last long, my rain gauge soon stopped reporting again. I got around to investigating again yesterday afternoon and quickly found that the reed switch had failed closed circuit. I don't remember doing it, but it showed evidence of my having replaced it in the past, so I made an ...

No, but I blathered them with grease to keep the moisture out.

Rain Gauge failed
Everything has been boringly reliable on my system now, for several years. Not even batteries going flat, since I brought the batteries indoors and doubled them up with two sets of AA's in parallel, so I could swap one set, whilst the other kept the station running - though I have not even needed to...

Re: MX delay in getting rain to rainfall gauge
Oh well, thanks. I was just surprised to see the wind direction change a few times, but none of the rain appearing at all, from my test and it was around ten minutes between poring the water through, climbing down the ladder, putting it away, overalls and boots off, to being back in front of the lap...

MX delay in getting rain to rainfall gauge
Hi, I have just recently got MX working again on the PI and then my rain gauge stopped working just days afterwards. Problem traced to spiders making their home in the gauge, cleaned out, ran some water through and it ticked away merrily. I then went back to the laptop, where MX was already running,...

Re: Maplin in administration - where to buy spare parts now?
Does anyone happen to know if this would be a suitable replacement for my Maplin Fine Offset WH1080? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/123132220508 I think the transmitter part is dead, it works for a few days or weeks after I change the batteries but then stops. Are you sure it's not cheap, old batteries...

Re: Cumulus MX stopping on Rpi ?
Hi, No progress as yet, because got it into a bit of a mess... I managed to damage the rather fragile power socket of the Rpi, I tried to replace it with a new socket, but it is too fine soldering work for me, so I decided to feed power in via the header pin 2 and 6 - that was today's fix. Next my w...

Re: Cumulus MX stopping on Rpi ?
I have just spent a few days on this, but now I'm stumped and looking for help please.... Win10 was complaining there was a problem with the SD card, so I copied everything off it as best I could, tried to get Win10 to fix it, but I got in a mess writing the code back. Then Win32diskimage stopped wo...

Re: Cumulus MX stopping on Rpi ?
I am thinking maybe the same, but its odd how despite Cumulus's webpage failing - Cumulus is obviously still running on the Rpi and it is able to continue to update Wunderground. I am looking to pull the microSD out anyway, to try to sort out the mess I have made of the screen resolution - its compl...
