Re: Cumulus is busy flag?
Thanks for the steer Mark, I'm experimenting with reading MX's CPU usage... it rises above negligible whenever it's busy. The MX logs also give information about when the upload processes begin and end (both realtime and full update), so interrogating those may also help. It's clear, however, that M...

Re: Cumulus is busy flag?
Thanks Mark.
Need to tread very cautiously in this endeavour then!
There's a number of approaches I can try in order to work out when it's safe to intervene, but none as neat as being explicitly told "you are good to go!"
I appreciate the rapid reply.
Take care
John

Cumulus is busy flag?
Hi, I'm just starting my conversion from Cumulus1 to Cumulus MX. I have background activities triggered by Cumulus 1 that include processes which read, copy, move and write to Cumulus internal files. I have, therefore, a process which checks for the word "Uploading" on the console. If pres...

Re: WH-3080-SOLAR new take on radio dropout
Just to close this thread down, my solution is quite conservative: Keeping (for now) Cumulus 1 Davis Vantage Pro2 Plus, for sensors and the 'pretty' console Davis Vantage Vue console and WeatherLink USB logger, for hidden console, local data buffer and PC connection I could have bought 14 new Fine O...

Re: Help in filling gaps in Davis specs
Thanks all for your helpful input. I'm in somewhat of a quandary now - Davis WLL versus Ecowitt GW1000. I'm still not quite sure yet where the data buffering takes place, as 'logger' seems to mean communications interface, not 'data buffer' as I understood it. Although off topic, I know that the Eco...

Re: WH3080 upgrade?
Thanks Paul, info much appreciated. The Davis range is very confusing to me. I'm sure that it's all logical to someone! As my current console is out of sight, so I'm not sure that I need a fancy display unit to clutter the living room (and annoy my wife!). I'm thinking that the Davis Vantage Pro2 Pl...

Help in filling gaps in Davis specs
Hi, I'm upgrading (finally) my Fine Offset WH3080. It's looking like the Davis Vantage Pro2 Plus will match the needs but, despite hours with loads of data instruction manuals and Topics, I have become confused as to how best to get the data to my website. Currently using (and very happy with) Cumul...

Sorry ... a bit more time on the keyboard and I've found it.
Thanks

Re: WH-3080-SOLAR new take on radio dropout
Hi Uncle_Bob Long time, no talk! I hope that you're well. The WH3080 is now starting to show its age and I can't find anything to replace it within a reasonable budget. The external comms are still reliable (I halved the value of the pull up resistor) but now the internal temperature sensor is faili...

Re: WH3080 upgrade?
Hi PTB, Thanks for the pointer. I seem to have drawn a blank on the Aercus site... just starting on the Ecowitt range. I was curious to see that the Aercus range is on 433MHz - as a radio ham, that is a conflict. I thought that most 'modern' kit used 868MHz! Also curious to see that the WS3085, whic...

WH3080 upgrade?
Hi, I've been using the wh3080 for nearly a decade now, and have got quite used to its quirks. I have a bag of spares as well (it's actually been three stations over that period) I'm looking for a replacement that is: Cumulus compatible Data logs in event of the pc being down for maintenance Records...

Can I read the error log?
Using 1.9.4 (1099) successfully and have built a Windows processor to capture and process the data files to enhance my web site a bit (such as saving/presenting archives, handling news/events etc) I can't see how to read the error log. I have the web tags for 'error flag set' and 'last error was' bu...
