Re: Accuracy of a WH3081
Hi Allycat, Why would the solar pod have to be mounted on a mast? Re: extension of the solar pod cable: it could probably be done fairly easy by using an RJ45 extender (basically this is a small "block" containing two RJ45 receptables) and a straight cable. If the extension is done this wa...

Re: Problems with station communication: USB locks up comple
I have seen that sometimes, when the console is restarted, it comes up with a seemingly-random relative pressure-offset. Not sure if this can be remedied.

Re: Light reading not showing on website
I keep forgetting that Cumulus is pre-.NET.
Can't we do a COM wrapper around it? If you're interested, but lack the time, I can take a look.

Re: Will Peetbrothers ever be supported
it is probably better not to argue This is surprisingly often the case when someone offers software for free. It becomes even more so when you say you 'read some', but failed to follow the blatantly obvious 'Useful Links' which are at the top of each and every page on this forum . The Cum...

Re: UK 2012 Rainfall totals
That is exactly why I have a manual cylinder gauge.

Re: Windows 8
I'm glad I didn't , have it running virtual sometimes this is no desingn for desktops. I wonder if companies will use win 8... I hear that a lot from people who have looked at Windows 8 for, say, 15 minutes. I rarely hear that from people who have actually *used* it. BCJKiwi's comment about the sho...

Re: UK 2012 Rainfall totals
I am using a cylinder gauge to check on (and correct) the values reported by my Fyne Offset rayne gauge.
The 'correcting' bit in the above sentence applies on a regular basis. The differences are sometimes quite huge and it all adds up like no tomorrow.

Re: Classic cold front passage this morning
And yes, that looks like a proper cold front as well. Wind speed and direction, temperature and humidity drop, pressure rise - it's all there.
And funnily enough, also at almost exactly 9 am. Is that some secret protocol that I'm unaware of?

Re: Classic cold front passage this morning
The front would've passed you earlier - more like yesterday. But I don't think it was as well-developed as it was when we got it this morning. The shower you got was probably the follow-up trough.

Classic cold front passage this morning
The cold front hanging off Steve's Low passed our back yard this morning at 09:00 sharp. This was a classic cold front passage. Preceded by: dropping pressure gusty winds maximum temp reached at 05:30 or thereabouts... At almost exactly 09:00: Temperature nosedives Dew point nosedives Wind suddenly ...

Re: Storm on the way
Good to hear you got through without major mishap! :D Compared to this, our weather is boring. I suppose you'd happily trade your exciting weather for our boring weather ;-) At 9 am, we got the cold front hanging off your low... but nothing like your winds. Classic cold front behaviour though... the...

Re: Strange solar readings
And here are the results of the Dutch jury: KNMI in De Bilt (a stone's throw from here) recorded 61 hours of sunshine for January until now. My little el-cheapo station, combined with the tweaking mentioned above, recorded 60.6 hours of sunshine. Close enough for me. I think I'll leave the settings ...

Re: Wind Vane Direction Reporting
Hi Peter, Around 338 degrees may be one of the directions where two (of your) relays do operate together. However, IIRC that direction is one of the quite "high resistance value" directions, so maybe the A/D conveter is inaccurate, or there is some current leakage (moisture) between the e...

Re: It looks like the end of the cold spell for us
Ha... cold. The KNMI judgment of the model output leads to mild frost during the night, and Tx well above zero. Compared to the last weeks, that's mild ;-) On top of that, my employer takes us (including our partners) to Winterberg from Friday morning to Monday afternoon, to celebrate the ...
