Re: Tarting up my Data Summary

The path to dayfile.txt was wrong in betal_readDayfile.php. I amended it and copied the php to the server.

This is looking a bit more encouraging... http://www.cheadlehulmeweather.co.uk/be ... ummary.php

Re: Tarting up my Data Summary

That's because I'm an idiot Paul!

I forgot those files needing transferring to the server. They're there now and the page has changed but it can't read dayfile.txt for some odd reason.

Re: Tarting up my Data Summary

Panic over. I suspected Cumulus might need restarting after changes to the ini. I've now got a betel_datasummary.php showing but it's empty. Still, Rome wasn't built in a day. :D

Re: Tarting up my Data Summary

Oh dear. It looks like you can't have more than 9 uploads in cumulus.ini. I edited cumulus.ini and entered the following after the 9th entry in the FTPSite section... ExtraLocal10=C:\Program Files\Cumulus\web\betel_datasummaryT.htm ExtraRemote10=www/betel_datasummary.php ExtraProcess10=1 ExtraBinary...

Re: Tarting up my Data Summary

I've hit a glitch and not sure how to get around it. In Cumulus -- Internet Settings -- Files there is space for 10 entries. All 10 are occupied. How can I add another? I need Cumulus to process betel_datasummaryT.htm.

LATER: Duh! Edit Cumulus.ini to add extra. :D

Re: Tarting up my Data Summary

Thanks sfws for confirming the change I applied was the correct one. I'm not going to bother with datasummary.php as it doesn't appear to be doing any harm. I may change the suffix to ph# and then eventually delete it. The chances of me upgrading to HTML5 are about the same as Stoke winning the Prem...

Re: Tarting up my Data Summary

A little more investigation shows I have a datasummaryT.php and this contains tags so that my station etc. is displayed correctly. So I'm not sure what the purpose of datasummary.php is. The relevant section of datasummaryT.php is below... <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content=&qu...

Re: Tarting up my Data Summary

You are using Cumulus 1, jQuery is only included ( http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/Simple_Website_setup#Cumulus_MX ) in Cumulus MX. Your jQuery has nothing to do with Cumulus, it is loaded in your http://www.cheadlehulmeweather.co.uk/datasummary.php by line 11 <script src="http://ajax.googleapis....

Re: Tarting up my Data Summary

Paul has kindly sent me the file created by beteljuice so I will read through the supplied readme and hopefully make sense of it. I accept a one size fits all solution is not possible. But first I need to update my version of jQuery. Hopefully not a daft question. I assume I need to stop Cumulus and...

Re: Tarting up my Data Summary

Gents, Interesting replies which opens up something of a can of worms. In my naivety I thought there might have been a standardised php script that users simply dropped into their website structure making amendments where necessary for their location and web url. It seems several have designed their...

Re: Tarting up my Data Summary

Thanks for taking the time to explain the process sfws. It sure is complicated. I suppose the more interested you are in learning a particular language the more time you'll devote to it. If I'm honest I want the end result but if I can use others' work without fully understanding how each line works...

Re: Tarting up my Data Summary

Thanks sfws, that's a good starting point. I'll also investigate how to update jQuery without breaking anything. I am familiar with IF THEN ELSE but it all looks very convoluted compared to Visual Basic which is where I spent most of my years before retirement. I'm attaching my readDayfile.php zippe...

Tarting up my Data Summary

A few years back a kind forum member wrote some PHP code that showed max temp >= 25C in red as shown below. Temps below freezing were displayed in blue. Simple but effective. Summary_Ray.png But having looked at a couple of other sites this colour scheme has been expanded and it's something I would ...
