I think the Vue was built for the interested amateur as opposed to the VP2 which is aimed more at the enthusiastic amateur. No water ingress into either of my transmitters and I live near Manchester :D

Re: what station I think i've tried the lot

Davis Vantage Pro 2. Here's my history... 1) Purchased VP2 with additional wireless anemometer transmitter in April 2009. 2) First failure of anemometer in December 2013 when cups broke in a 52mph gust. Replacements provided FOC but new anemometer purchased for continuity of records. Original kept a...

Re: UK Unnamed storm 17/18 Jan 2018 impact

I've changed the title of this thread.

Pressure bottomed out at 982.6hPa at 02:58 and the highest gust was 45mph at 03:15.

Pressure dropped 21hPa in 10 hours. Quite something when 24hPa in 24hrs is considered a 'bomb' :D

Re: TNETweather (Kevin Reed) has passed away

Very sad news. I'm indebted to Kevin for providing the PSS script for my banner. Without his knowledge and skill it wouldn't exist.

He was very good at what he did and helped an awful lot of weather nuts like me. His family should be proud of him.

Thank you Kevin.

Midnight update: 3.63hPa/hr drop. That's it peaked. Now for the wind. I'm off to bed. Pick this up later today.

Re: UK Storm Fionn impact

Northerners always have more impressive curves! :D

Wind is picking up here now but nothing over 30mph yet. But pressure drop continues to impress. 3.79hPa/hr now. It's tempting to stay up and watch it but I probably won't.

23:45 update: 3.96hPa/hr drop!

Re: UK Storm Fionn impact

Looks nasty for 0100-0500 for this neck of the woods. I'd be surprised if we get snow here but the Pennines will suffer as usual.

Pressure now dropping at 3.74hPa/hr. Must be a record.

Re: UK Storm Fionn impact

This is not storm Fionn, Ray. This is where the naming system creates so much confusion. Storm Fionn was a small kink in the isobars that delivered gusts in excess of 70mph across Northern Ireland yesterday, so Met Eireann named it. The Met Office didn't name tonight's system, neither did Met Eirea...

Cheshire. It's in my location. ;) I'm not talking about lowest pressure. I'm talking about greatest drop (or rise) in pressure in one hour.

Re: UK Storm Fionn impact

But interestingly winds have dropped off slowly all day. I suspect they'll increase significantly as the low moves to the east overnight.

Pressure now falling 3.22hPa /hr. Pity Cumulus doesn't keep these records. This is a big one.

UPDATE: Now dropping at 3.56hPa/hr.

Re: Running both v1 and MX

Ray, since you are running Weatherlink as well, do you have weatherlink.com 2.0? the recently introduced Davis free page https://www.weatherlink.com/bulletin/a3a3c5e7-b8bd-4910-ba3a-f6ad6e1f09d1 My data is stale as I don't run Weatherlink regularly but would like to if I could run VirtualVP reliabl...
