Re: A Little Day / night Chart Revisited ...

Having received help to get my day/night/twilight image displaying correctly I'm revisiting this as I would like to use the enhanced version created by the late, great beteljuice. I have copied sun_banner.php into my public_html folder and edited the code on my IndexT.html as follows:- <td rowspan=&...

Re: Day / Night graphic keeping current

I’ve checked on my iPad and Android phone as well as my windows laptop and it looks like your code has fixed it.

Many thanks! That has been bugging me for years! :D

Re: Day / Night graphic keeping current

@saratogaWX, many thanks. I’ve updated my template and it will be executed in a few minutes.

It may take a little while to judge if it’s fixed. If further work is required I’ll come back as I’m unfamiliar with changing cache settings. Fingers crossed it works.

Day / Night graphic keeping current

Many of us have added the Day / Night graphic to our websites over the years. It's a great way of seeing how much daylight the site has. It also includes a marker for the current time but I have to manually refresh my page on Windows to show the current situation. On iOS it's a real pain as no refre...

Re: Hostpresto server migration

Mike, I’ve been with them for a number of years. Only problems have been in the last couple of months but otherwise excellent service.

I use the original Cumulus so upload via ftp. No issues here.

Re: **NEW** Cumulus Weather Topsites 2013 - Please Join.

@JennyLeez, I noticed this morning. It's different but fine for me. What is important is my banner data is now current across all my devices - Windows and iOS.

Thank you for your continued support. One day I hope to make number 1 but the competition is stiff! :D

Re: Hostpresto server migration

I’ll just add my sixpenneth as a HostPresto customer. I’m not aware of a SLA for my contract. The two short downtimes I’ve experienced in the last few weeks have to be put in context with how much I pay.

For around 30UKP per annum it’s good service. For 100% uptime I’d expect to pay a lot more.

Re: Cumulus PHP-GD Banner

I think this is an iOS issue. I did a search about caching issues on Safari, and there's tons of complaints going back 10 years or more. Hard to argue with that. My new MeteoBlue widget was fine with Windows but wouldn’t display with iOS. The problem was an open <a> command. Sufficient to prevent i...

Chrome on Android phone is what was giving the time I quoted earlier.
Thanks for reporting back Freddie. Not sure anyone can do anything about it. Just different browsers on different OSs.

Windows or iOS? Windows fine here and so is Android on my phone. Just iPad that isn’t.

Re: Cumulus PHP-GD Banner

I see similar - up-to-date on your website, but when I look at the cumulussites page you are in third place and your data is from 06:35 yesterday. This smells like caching settings on the cumulussites end. Perhaps the whole cumulussites page is cached in our browsers, and it is caching on content-t...

Re: Cumulus PHP-GD Banner

I’ve just checked now and it still shows 08:58 Jan 22 2024. I’m accessing it via the Aardvark Topsites link on my front page. It’s right down at the bottom beneath the IICCP banner. I choose Enter without voting and that takes me to the league table. I’m shown in 4th but with old data. I’m using Saf...

Re: Cumulus PHP-GD Banner

@Mapantz kindly provided the code to add to my .htaccess file to ensure the info in my banner was always current. I plucked up the courage to add it yesterday and it seems to be working fine with one exception. Cunulussites run by @JennyLeez is still showing yesterday’s data and despite refreshing t...

Re: Hostpresto server migration

@mapantz, <<I'm not getting angry, I'm trying to make you understand that Hostpresto is not playing by the rule book and you're getting your wires crossed..>> I've never seen anything from HP saying users will receive an email when downtime is required. It's very infrequent as far as I'm concerned. ...

Re: Hostpresto server migration

@Mapantz, you’re coming across as a very angry man. Why don’t you ring HostPresto and speak to them rather than vent your spleen here which achieves nothing other than raising your blood pressure. They don’t send emails for down time. Now I know they use Announcements I check there as I did earlier ...
