Re: Frost pocket suspected.....
I'm sad to hear of the old ladies being wrecked, one of my favourites of all time. However in their case I think I can understand how foolish it could be to leave any of them laying around too casually! And much less the cargo that ran in them. Agreed Ian but wouldn't the sensible thing to do be to...

Re: Frost pocket suspected.....
And I think the Woodford site - EGCD - may soon become another victim. The Nimrod aircraft built there were demolished earlier this year in sight of the people who built them! It's rumoured Hollywood studios are lining up to buy part of the site. Expect some "The Day after Tomorrow" ...

Re: Frost pocket suspected.....
Hi Ian, Going online makes it infinitely more interesting when you can share your info with others but I understand your reasons. Adding rain will make a big difference. The Met Office use the "Central England Temperature" for long-term statistical reasons. It's a triangle covering central...

Re: Frost pocket suspected.....
Ian, Do you upload to the internet? WUnderground would be useful as I could look at your temps for the day in question and compare to other nearby sites. Publishing weather stats won't be illegal... yet! But if your station doesn't show signs of global warming you may have your equipment confiscated...

Re: Frost pocket suspected.....
Ian, I'm certain that the temperature in a fairly enclosed space like a rear garden will be different to that in a nearby open space. Now how you interprete 'different' is uncertain. A sheltered garden might expect to experience a lower temperature on a clear night than an open space due to a lack o...

Re: Frost pocket suspected.....
Find out what type of soil is common in your area. Sandy and chalky soil retains far less heat than clay. Rickmansworth is a notorious frost hollow in the UK and so is Bournemouth even though it's close to the sea. The area at the bottom of a long hill will also be colder. Woodford (SE of Manchester...

Re: Rain reset
I had corrected the Current Rainfall Rate and Total Rainfall today so far but had missed Total Rainfall Counter. That's now sorted, thanks Steve.steve wrote:Edit the October log file with Cumulus stopped.RayProudfoot wrote:How do you clear the graph of these erroneous readings?

Re: Rain reset
I decided to clean my Davis rain gauge yesterday and to avoid erroneous rain readings I placed the console in setup mode by pressing Done and the down arrow. The display went blank so all appeared well. After cleaning the unit I held down the Done button for a couple of seconds and the display react...

Re: WMR88 From Amazon appears to be a grey import.
Ian, Apologies. It was late and I misread their reply. Refunding part of the delivery charge does not address the problem as you quite rightly say. Another message is required stating you will not accept the part refund as the solution and you require a returns number so it can be returned to them f...

An encouraging reply. They score well in Which? customer service so rest assured things will be resolved very soon.

Re: WMR88 From Amazon appears to be a grey import.
Ian, I would put everything in writing from now on. Write to Amazon via their link for that item and complain that the item does not meet the terms of the Sale of Goods Act 1979 where "goods have to be of merchantable quality and fit for purpose". As you are unable to plug this unit into a...

Re: WMR88 From Amazon appears to be a grey import.
Ian, Reading through the 4 reviews there is a warning that it comes fitted with a Euro plug and despite complaining to Amazon about this the reviewer has not received a reply. Or if he has he hasn't updated his post. As Steve say's this may not be legal without a UK plug. Send them an email advising...

Re: WMR88 From Amazon appears to be a grey import.
Ian, Can you provide me with a link to the unit? I can only find the WMR88 sold by mensgiftshop. The problem of grey imports isn't really a factor now. Back in the 70s and 80s if you did buy a grey import it didn't come with a UK warranty. As you have bought from amazon.co.uk you will have a minimum...

Re: WMR88 From Amazon appears to be a grey import.
Ian, Amazon values its reputation so my first action would be to email the company that sold you the unit. This may well be a company who use Amazon as a shop window but Amazon will have sight of your message. Under distant selling rules you have the right to reject the unit if it's not fit for purp...
