Re: Daily Rain in Dayfile and Monthly Log file

If you turn on debug logging and data logging, there may something logged which will help work out exactly what's going on.

Re: Daily Rain in Dayfile and Monthly Log file

You seem to have a severe communications issue with the logger, MX goes for long periods without receiving any data, sometimes the data it receives is truncated, and sometimes it appears that the data contains incorrect values (although this may simply be an issue related to the communication proble...

Re: Daily Rain in Dayfile and Monthly Log file

It looks like MX is getting zero for the rainfall counter at times and is thus resetting it, which results in the total rain count being used for the day once the counter returns to the correct value. From the 'data stopped' messages, MX is clearly having trouble communicating with the logger. You d...

Re: Instromet Datalogger Question

Thanks, that doesn't really narrow it down (because of the way the logging works), but more wouldn't help. So all I can say is that it's apparently some kind of comms issue.

Re: Instromet Datalogger Question

Yes, looks like a comms error, it seems to be rejecting everything with 'invalid checksum', which suggests some kind of corruption in the incoming data packets (but I think it may signal the same error if it wasn't getting anything at all). If you add "Logging=1" to the [Station] section i...

Re: Instromet Datalogger Question

If you zip up the diags folder and attach it to a reply in this thread, I'll take a look.

If you can't see the problem, zip up the diags folder and attach it here.

Re: time format

If you use the today's rain editor, you have to make sure you leave Cumulus running until it has written the next entry to the logs, so that it saves the corrected value. You say it is out by 3mm - too high or too low? And how do you know? The diags logs will show where the figures in Cumulus are co...

Re: time format

It's entirely up to you. Personally, I wouldn't use any data at all that I hadn't recorded myself.

Re: time format

I have to say I'm baffled. Why do you want to insert fake data?

Re: time format

Cumulus MX data is forwards compatible with Cumulus 1, but not backwards compatible. If you want to port data from MX to 1.9.4 you will have some work to do. MX now uses ISO format for the dates in the ini files. You'll need to convert them all to the format shown that's understood by your system. I...

Re: Longest Dry Run curiosity

I'm pretty sure that the Cumulus default of 0.2mm corresponds to the official definition of a dry day as defined by the Met Office and/or the WMO, or at least it did at the time I wrote the code. See this page, for example: https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/climatechange/science/monitoring/ukcp09/availab...
