Re: Mark Settings Which Require a Restart
The first task would be identifying which camp each setting falls into, this would be quite a job in itself. I hear that. In messing around with FTP recently I removed the hostname, username and password and found that although the regular upload stopped, it seemed realtime was still upload via FTP...

Re: Generating Files Without Uploading
As you note, good old FTP is just about the slowest file transfer mechanism you can use! SFTP is considerably faster (it's just the equivalent of SCP under the skin), so use that if your web server supports it. Some years ago I was working on some really stripped down Unix systems and relied on vi,...

Re: Generating Files Without Uploading
Bob, I think it is a fair point that the setup of interval/realtime, and FTP is not very intuitive. It's what has been there from day one and it could do with some loving. Ideally you want a section of config that just controls all this in a simple manner. Currently FTP is "controlled" by...

Re: Generating Files Without Uploading
I would switch off Realtimegauges.txt FTP in the Web/FTP settings . Then I would create the realtimegaugesT.txt from the webtags and put that in the Extra web files section without FTP. As above, that looks like the best solution. In reflecting on what I was thinking, I suppose I was thinking that ...

Re: Generating Files Without Uploading
My guess if I wrote the code if FTP is not set that would be my first check and after that I would check for FTP logging, since it is illogical to log FTP messages if FTP is switched off. Hence nothing would be logged. Well, I guess that was my bad ... I had it in my head it would be written to the...

Re: Generating Files Without Uploading
I may be out in left field on this, but couldn't you just add realtimegaugesT.txt in Extra web files, local side as \web\realtimegaugesT.txt, and on the remote side enter the path to where you want it xxxxxx/realtimegauges.txt or is it xxxxxx\realtimegauges.txt, tick Process, and Realtime if that i...

Re: Generating Files Without Uploading
Thanks folks, for all the comments. I need to read them carefully and respond thoughtfully. For one thing, I have an interest in sharing what I'm learning - perhaps in the Wiki - but I'm still trying to cement my understanding of CMX in some areas. I can expand this in the original post, but I promo...

Re: Generating Files Without Uploading
I'm a little unclear on how the options in this section interact. This is a stab at documenting how things are configured. Best I can tell "Enable realtime FTP" is required to generate the file, but it also wants to FTP it.

Generating Files Without Uploading
I am looking to generate the essential files for upload - using an "External program". The "Program" script is working well. I seem to be having trouble getting realtimegauges.txt to generate ... without attempting to FTP it. It seems like "Enable realtime FTP" is requi...

Mark Settings Which Require a Restart
I've been trying to accomplish a particular behavior which involves fiddling with a number of settings. There seems to be a lot of trial and error for this task. It would convenient not to have to restart between each trial. I have seen some discussion of settings that require a restart and some tha...

Re: Instructions: The Quick Easy Cumulus MX Linux Installation and Running as a Service
I presume I'd still need copy back the 'Cumulus.ini', all files in the 'Data' folder and any html template files that I've changed? Check a distro, but I think you will find that Cumulus.ini isn't included - it's generated when you run CMX. Template mods, however, will have to be handled. --- FYI -...

Re: Cumulus MX Software Upgrade Available Check Feature
Interesting. I don't think I've ever seen the indicator for " Upgrade available " yet "trip" Appreciate the discussion. My understanding follows. I don't know if it says this anywhere in so many words, but it looks to me like there are 3 states: Gray - - Indicator not enabled Gre...

Re: 3097 Files change log?
I like to understand what's changed between releases. I've also modified a few files - and they seem to have also been changed in the last few builds. I've been thinking about how to merge such changes but so far merging by hand hasn't been too bad, especially given a good list of those requiring a ...

Here's what I see across 3 browsers - AFAIK the latest versions.
I've never seen anything but green and gray.

Re: Cumulus MX release 3.9.2 (build 3097)
I posted something I've been working on that may be of interest - at viewtopic.php?f=40&t=18813 "Cumulus MX Update Helper Script". I chose to start a separate thread because it isn't tied to any particular release.
