Re: Twin Consoles

I am interested in the answer too, for another reason:
If my neighbor (less than 20 meters away) buys a FO that transmits on the same frequency (NL: 868 MHz), will it interfere with mine, or is there something like a range of "channels" within that frequency?

Re: Raspberry Pi mini computer £21

Interesting topic. I just ordered one (the type B version 2.0 512 MB version). Before that, I did a lot of reading. Information that was useful for me: - This topic. - The Raspberry quick start guide: http://www.raspberrypi.org/quick-start-guide - So you got one, now what?: http://www.engadget.com/2...

Re: Another DIY radiation shield (FARS of better: SFARS)

So the fans did work ;) Tinfoil might give problems with the transmitter range. And I do not see a rain hood to protect the fan from rain, when wind is blowing in the direction of the fan outlet. (Last week I swapped the vented elbow with a plain one, to protect the fan from humidity. I will refit t...

Re: Windows 8

I voted yes. I upgraded from Windows 7, two weeks ago. Apart from Avira, no problems encountered. However, I am not using the tiles desktop yet, but the old one.
Regarding Cumulus: It ran on W7, it runs on W8.

Re: Another DIY radiation shield (FARS of better: SFARS)

The fan fits exactly inside the male part of the 80mm elbow. I just squeezed it in. To be sure, take the fan with you when visiting the hardware store.
(For US (and UK?) readers: A 3 inch elbow probably is too small to fit the fan without adjustments).

Re: Another DIY radiation shield (FARS of better: SFARS)

An update: my SFARS is finished. - Painted and mounted. - Nothing is glued, except for the solar panel on the elbow. - I removed the base plate of the panel because it wasn't water resistant. After soldering the wires to the panel, I painted the back of it for isolation. - All solar fan components a...

Re: Another DIY radiation shield (FARS of better: SFARS)

@all: thanks for advice. This is my first prototype, based only on Google and my common sense, so any advice is welcome .... Adding a down pipe, or a down elbow to my design? The shield is mounted in a shady place. The outlet points to my house, no fierce winds from that direction. Because the fan o...

Re: Another DIY radiation shield (FARS of better: SFARS)

@nitrx: Yes, the fan is silent. Driven by a 300 Watt halogen bulb I could hear it spinning, indoors of course. Outside, even in bright sunlight, the sound should be unnoticable. @beteljuice: - Yes, I have seen a picture of an inverted J design. With only MY common sense I cannot think of a reason wh...

Another DIY radiation shield (FARS of better: SFARS)

The standard mini radiation shield of my WH-1080 does not suffice. Temperature spikes of up to two degrees, quite noticable when it is partly sunny. I read about the plastic bowls screens, as well as the louvre doors screens, but I wanted something smaller, cheaper, easier to build. (SFARS= Solar Fa...

Re: Cumulus 1.9.1 does not work on Netbooks with Win starter

I know this is an old post. However, I can't find more recent info.
My question: Does the recent Cumulus version (1.9.2) work with Windows 7 Starter?

Re: 1000 Cumulus Websites!!!

Netherlands:
Yesterday: 14 sites in the list.
Today: 6 sites in the list.
The map view still shows 14 (actually 15: mine has been re-added between yesterday and today)

It looks like something went wrong with the list creation.

1st anniversary of my WH-1081. How did it perform?

On 2011-07-23 I received my WS. Installed it, and started the system. One year later, until this morning: - Not one restart needed. - Still the same batteries - All sensors are working OK - Accurate readings, as far as I can tell. - Wind sensor: no verdict. I works, but my location is far from optim...

Re: Lattitude & Longitude site

A easier way to obtain the coordinates (in decimal degree notation): If you're browsing Google Maps and want to know the coordinates of a location, just right-click on the map and select "What's here?". The coordinates will automatically pop up in the search box. http://support.google.com/...
