Re: Rain discrepancy in log and uploads

The diags file should show anything unusual happening with the rainfall counter.

Re: MX with Instromet questions

The station doesn't supply solar radiation values, it supplies sunshine hours.

Re: MX with Instromet questions

Here's an example of a data response: 2018-08-06 14:29:53.886 Response from station: rdlv,25.1,24.9,,1010.6,1.4,260,10.03,0.00,39 The 25.1 is temperature 1 and the 24.9 is temperature 2. The 10.03 is the sun hour count. It's the same figure throughout the file, but the file only covers a few minutes...

Re: MX with Instromet questions

If as you say your wet bulb and dry bulb are showing the same temperature, that will naturally lead to a very high calculated relative humidity. You've made sure that the wick is in the water and anything else that needs to be done?

Re: MX with Instromet questions

If you turn on data logging, the data received will be logged to the diags file, then I can see whether the sun data is being received. But I can't actually remember where MX displays the count of the sunshine hours! If you have 'extra sensors' selected, the wet bulb reading will be used as an extra...

Re: Instromet Datalogger Question

Hope you find MX OK for your needs. You have reminded me that there are two current versions of 1.9.4 for Instromet users depending on which version of the logger you have, perhaps you had the wrong one. Or I may be misremembering and what I just said was rubbish.

Re: Daily Rain in Dayfile and Monthly Log file

Having checked the code, I see it asks for 20 packets if the barometer forcing is on, otherwise 50.

Re: Daily Rain in Dayfile and Monthly Log file

It stops receiving LOOP data after between 10 and 20 packets (there should be 50 each time). One thing I notice is that you appear to have the option set to force the barometer to update more frequently - this shouldn't be required and may be causing issues. I don't think it will help, but you shoul...

Re: Daily Rain in Dayfile and Monthly Log file

If you turn on debug logging and data logging, there may something logged which will help work out exactly what's going on.

Re: Daily Rain in Dayfile and Monthly Log file

You seem to have a severe communications issue with the logger, MX goes for long periods without receiving any data, sometimes the data it receives is truncated, and sometimes it appears that the data contains incorrect values (although this may simply be an issue related to the communication proble...

Re: Daily Rain in Dayfile and Monthly Log file

It looks like MX is getting zero for the rainfall counter at times and is thus resetting it, which results in the total rain count being used for the day once the counter returns to the correct value. From the 'data stopped' messages, MX is clearly having trouble communicating with the logger. You d...

Re: Instromet Datalogger Question

Thanks, that doesn't really narrow it down (because of the way the logging works), but more wouldn't help. So all I can say is that it's apparently some kind of comms issue.

Re: Instromet Datalogger Question

Yes, looks like a comms error, it seems to be rejecting everything with 'invalid checksum', which suggests some kind of corruption in the incoming data packets (but I think it may signal the same error if it wasn't getting anything at all). If you add "Logging=1" to the [Station] section i...

Re: Instromet Datalogger Question

If you zip up the diags folder and attach it to a reply in this thread, I'll take a look.
