Re: Cumulus Weather Stations - Map

Paul, Yes, it wouldn't be too hard to do some sort of thing with Google maps. The data file you're referring to is the realtime.txt file, and some sort of web application could poll for the contents of those files. But I have no idea who's using Cumulus other than the people on this forum (and its p...

Re: Wind averaging

Andy, A few forums that I know of are at http://www.ukweatherworld.co.uk, netweather.tv, and at accuweather.com. I've just done a bit of a search, and found Tim from Meteorologica posting in a few places about the WMR928 and its wind speed calculations. He says that the anemometer basically counts t...

Re: V.1.7.11

Yes, if you look at the source of my gauges page, you'll see the bit that embeds the SWF file - it's an 'object' tag and within that an 'embed' tag. I can't claim to fully understand it, but it's a standard way of embedding SWF. So basically, you could put it anywhere you want. The SWF is rather bas...

Re: V.1.7.11

I've had a go at putting the real time wind gauges into the existing gauges page.

Any comments?

Re: Discussion related to Oregon Scientific weather stations...

Will your software work with a WMR-100 STATION AND HOW DO YOU GET IT TO WORK? Sadly not, I'm afraid. Oregon Scientific have given the details of the protocol to a select few, and they have had to sign a non-disclosure agreement. I tried contacting Oregon, but got no reply. Also, I believe it has a ...

Re: Wind averaging

Andy, The WMR-928 sends two wind speed values in each wind data packet (I think it's every 12 seconds). In the documents describing the protocol which are available on the 'net, and which I've used for Cumulus, the first value is usually described as 'gust' or sometimes just 'speed', and the second ...

Re: Rainfall not resetting

Yes, I admit it's a bit of a pain having to edit the data files manually, particularly when Cumulus can crash if you get it wrong! I am still in the process of checking all the places where it can crash in this way and allowing it to carry on 'gracefully'. One thing I am adding to the next release, ...

Re: V.1.7.11

I have a love-hate relationship with Vista too, my main PC (i.e. the one I use for developing Cumulus) runs it. SP1 improved things quite a bit, I think. Regarding putting the SWF gauges in a frame, I had been thinking the same sort of thing myself. It's certainly possible to embed it, so I'll look ...

Re: V.1.7.11

Ok. I guess it's possible that there's a bug and on that occasion it had included many more than the 3600. See how it goes. The real time display is something I want to progress at some time, but that would be a separate page using the Flash application that I was developing. I guess I could tidy it...

Re: V.1.7.11

It plots the most recent 3600 samples (it uses the same data as the 'spidergraph' (windrose)). Originally this was going to be one hour's worth (i.e. one per second), but it turned out that it was one point for every value supplied by the weather station. On the Davis stations wind data is supplied ...

Cumulus 1.7.11 available

There's a new web page called 'gauges' which uses some free gauges originally written for FreeWX, and also the three wind gauges from the Cumulus main screen. You'll need to upload some files to your web site to get the gauges to work, see the readme.txt, or the help file, or the 'News' section of t...

Oh no! I'm always a bit careful myself not to do anything just before 'rollover hour'.

I'll email you.

Re: instruments for templates

Hi Paul, It's just the one that comes with the instrument package, modified to work with Cumulus tags instead of FreeWx ones. Basically all you need to do is download the package and follow the instructions for installing it, but edit the supplied example so that the last section looks like the code...

Re: Wish list

The realtime box isn't of much use at the moment, it controls the uploading of the small text file which supplies the data for the Flash-based display that I gave you a preview of (CumulusRealtime.html at my Sanday weather site), so probably best to leave it unchecked for now.
