Sanday Weather approaching all-time record wind gusts

Post by THX »

Anyone else notice that Steve reached a wind gust of 83 mph today?

Steve: Has your power flickered at all? How about damage reports?

No power problems, and no damage (that I'm aware of).

I am amazed your power stays in, but I suppose you do not have many tall trees!!

Around here if we had a 83mph gust there would be trees down all over the place which in turn would take out the power. Probably would remove quite a few tiles as well.

Do you have to stay indoors because I presume you cannot stand up in an 83mph wind!!

We don't have any tall trees at all, and very few trees of any size. Certainly nothing that could come down on a power line.

We did have a walk down our track to the road that goes past our house, at high tide, to watch the sea and the seaweed coming over onto the road, but the wind wasn't at its strongest at that time, so it wasn't too bad. We do tend to stay indoors as much as possible when it gets really bad.
