Merry Dancers (Aurora Borealis/Northern Lights)

Post by steve »

Pretty good aurora tonight; I understand it's visible quite a way south of here. Here's one of many photos Mrs L took with her new Canon EOS 6D.

Steve,

That's a great shot! Congrats to your skilled wife. :)

I saw the news on the BBC so went out 30 minutes ago. Crystal clear skies here but with the light pollution from Manchester 10 miles to the north I couldn't see a thing. :(
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

That's a nice shot.
I didn't get to see much of the display as I was plagued by continously variable cloud but I did leave my NLC/Weather camera running over night and caught some of the display.
Here's a time lapse

Nice to see the aurora after such a long time.
cheers,
Bill.

Our national nightly news, I was watching NBC, had a couple minute clip of the lights you folks were receiving. The lady of the house made a comment about how beautiful it must have been to see that, then I brought up Mrs L's photo to show her.

Nice Catch...

I have a professional photographer friend who just sent some shots from Iceland. None better than that. (I'm not saying anything to him, though.)

Lovely capture Steve (& Mrs L)

and great night time video Bill. Very good quality. Love that you can see the effect of the boiler cycling on & off on the house in the distance.

More great images Steve. We'll be out of aurora season soon and into noctilucent clouds, has your wife photographed those before?

I don't think so, Mark, but I'm sure she'll be keen to have a go.
