rain reporting issue

Post by Londo M »

I have had my vantage vue for years without an issue but what I have got now does not make any sense. When it rains it does not send any data amount or rate but if I go out and pour 1 cup of water in very slowly it will show .25" of rain with a rate of cats and dogs. Several weeks ago we got over 2" of rain over night and my station showed .03. I get the 2" from a station a 1/4 mile away.

I called davis tech but their help was send it to us with 100$ for evaluation.

I am writing this now because we just got a short but hard shower with no wind and the other station got .04 with a 10 min. shower. When it stopped I poured the cup of water and got the .25" I do have trees but with this issue I took the station down from my roof to try a different location in my driveway, open to the sky and about 30' from the receiver.

I was using weather-link since I had the station but have now changed over to cumulus. All other data does show and react to changes and is close to all other surrounding sites on weatherunderground
It comes down to rain does not show but tap water does. :?: :?: :?: :groan:

You need to pour in an amount of water that equates to a known amount of rain and see what the station records. A 'cupful' is rather a lot of water! I don't know how many ml of water equates to 1mm (or whatever imperial units you want to use) of rain on the Vue, but I'm sure Google will find the answer for you.

I am not concerned with accuracy now if when it rains I get zero amount of accumulation. But if I pour water in it seems to count each tip.
