Likelihood of it getting a bit breezy

Post by steve »

UKMO are warning of the possibility of wind gusts in excess of 100 mph up here on Thursday night and Friday morning. Power supplies may be affected, so I may be offline for a bit.

pleased to say that after just finishing yesterday felling the last of 30 sycamores which were 8 metres from the flats but between 20 to 30 metres high. this all started due to a big branch snapping in the last winds causing damage to the roof. on the plus side plenty of wood for the log burner. expected 70 to 80 mph here so don't think calmac ferries will be out to any of the islands and the helicopters will be grounded so fingers crossed nobody needs emergency services on the main land which is always the big problem. the lifeboat is normally the only option.

Wow! good luck up there!!

This weather is crazy at the moment, I've seen whats happening in the US and down here we've just had the worst bush fires and bush fire conditions in 30 years, and this weekend they're predicting the heaviest rainfalls in 30 years!

We seem to have got off lightly here, compared to many places. Peak avg speed 55 mph (Bft. F9) peak gust 70 mph.

I didn't get off quite as lightly as I first thought.

Remarkably, the ISS was undamaged and (on the table in the conservatory) is transmitting again. Quality kit!

(The photographer apologises for the photo quality, she was standing in a (literally) gale force wind at the time).

Back luck Steve. The ISS still working is good, have you checked the rest of it yet?
