I've never been a fan of 9am to 9am, not sure why I don't like it if i'm honest. I certainly see why it makes sense now. :groan:

Though it would be fairly easy (I think, haven't tried it) to convert the top 10's script to a 9am start day.

Sorry for the delay in replying chaps. I think BT must still be having problems because I normally get an email when I'm subscribed to a topic.

It sounds as though C2 isn't quite as flexible as C1 when it comes to editing records. Is that something that could be changed?

The upside of 09:00 end time is overnight low records will be accurate but I suspect there are more downsides otherwise most of us would opt for the option.
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

I take that back after looking at it, the script uses the day data so can only report what has been recorded against the met day set in Cumulus.

That's ok. I edited the dayfile in SQL for that one and only figure, as I can't see it being beaten for the rest of the year. I might consider switching to 9am rollover times on December 31st- if I can remember.

A new record, here, this morning. 99% humidity. I think that is a feat in itself? I think i'm right in saying, the older temp/humidity sensors on Davis Pro2's tend to be a bit on the low side when recording high humidity?
Everything was extremely wet this morning though (no rain) so not surprising.
The closest point between the two, was the temp at 13.7°C and the dew point at 13.6°C

A new monthly record yesterday. Highest minimum for September in 8 years of keeping records. Cumulus correctly recorded a minimum of 19.1C at 04:15 but we had a second warm night last night and just before midnight the temp was 19.8C so I'm going to manually adjust the record.

Just one of the downsides of a midnight to midnight period instead of ending at 09:00. No matter.
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

My station installed July 2008 and started uploading to WU July 26th, and started with Cumulus Oct 23rd so not many new records anymore. However August 2016 had 4 Monthly records:
Highest Apparent Temperature 40.3°C Aug 12
Highest Heat Index 42.8°C Aug 12
Highest Minimum 23.4°C Aug 12
Highest Monthly Rainfall 139.2 mm

and September so far has a new Highest Heat Index 41.4°C Sep 7

August 2016 had an average temp of 22.5°C which is 1.8° higher than the 8 year August average
August 2016 had an average High temp of 28.5°C which is 1.9° higher than the 8 year August average High, with 7 days of plus 30°C
August 2016 had an average Low temp of 16.9°C which is 2.0° higher than the 8 year August average Low.

After a very dry early summer August had 18 days with some rainfall.
Total rainfall August 2016 139.2 mm with the next highest year 2014 at 104.0 mm.

With more rain than normal for August in 2016 the total sunshine was 240.8 hrs or average of 7.8 hrs/day, which compares to the 5 year average of 8.6 hrs/day in August.

Got perilously close to my dew point record today. Despite my location, I was right on the boundary of the heat in the UK. It managed only 22.8°C here, with a dew point of 20.4°C

However, I didn't care, as I had a cracking thunderstorm this morning! The forecasts mentioned nothing last night, despite the potential that was showing across the models.

Just take a look at the TT index from a hi-res model last night:

57 - 59 for my area, not surprising that a level 2 warning was issued by Estofex.

No great heat here today but some serious good rain and lightning starting around 16:30 and only just ended at 19:20. Needed lights on from 5pm onwards.

New all-time hourly rainfall of 1.20" (30.2mm) in the hour up to 18:55. Screen shot below doesn't show latest record.

It also broke the Highest Rain Rate (4.11") and highest daily rainfall (1.40") for September.

Lots of lightning too but no ground strikes as far as I can tell. Manchester airport closed for a while as runway flooded.

Another beaut of a thunderstorm last night, and although the rain wasn't as bad as the east of my region, I still managed 21.4mm in around 70 minutes.

Two new records though:

Maximum Rainfall Rate: 116.4 mm/hr at 2:02AM on Fri 16 September
Maximum Hourly Rainfall: 17.6 mm at 3:00AM on Fri 16 September

New 10-minute average wind speed record went today as Storm Doris passed over the UK. Records started in May 2010.

Good work Ray!

Annoying to be so close to breaking that record?! I was at 48mph at 7am, that equalled my highest - where I thought it would stay, until 50mph came along.
I just need 50 more miles to beat my wind run record now. :)
