By the way, Steve, the "New Record" indicator on the Cumulus' main console was correctly blinking this morning but when I went to the "Alltime Highs and Lows" tab, the one that was lit and blinking was that of... The Highest Pressure . Might be a little bug in the version (1.9.1 beta build 961) that I'm using and that otherwise works perfectly.

The same thing happens to me :D

Sorry, I hadn't even noticed that a new build was already available! Thanks and my apologies for reporting the already reported. I should always bear in mind that you're usually quicker in solving problems than most of us in writing about them! :D

Recorded 953.0

Your barometer is under-reading, by 20 mb or more.

You are correct, as always. Just made a comparison with our local official station which indicated my readings 25 mb too low! I have now added that to the calibration adjustment.

Here is an interesting statement from the same source .

"Over the past 40 years we have had a much lower pressure (983 hPa.) On 3 occasions: 30 January 1986 (972.5 hPa.) October 31, 2003 (983.3 hPa) and January 24, 2009 (983.2 hPa). This is because sea level is rising and now exceed the maximum of +40 cm" (Google translation).

Our local station has recorded sea level daily for over 40 years and provides the most complete historical sea level data in the area and is used as a basis for sea level rise predictions.

Not exactly a new record, but saw something I have not yet seen on my weather station yesterday afternoon.
Huge change in dew point with no change in weather conditions or wind.

Yes I should have said huge change in humidity and therefore dewpoint...I just thought the temp/dew graph looked more impressive than the humidity graph ;)

Spring rains in summer (well first day of summer!)

All time high rain rate (at least since Cumulus has been installed) - 95mm/hr
All time hourly rain rate (at least since Cumulus installed) - 24 mm/h
(Although the 149 mm we received on Feb 3, 2005 may well have exceeded that (I was only recorded every 15 mins back then and that day we got hit with 176 mm between 0600 on Feb 2 and 0700 Feb 3..)

We've just experienced (a few hours ago) a thunderstorm unusual for this part of the world.

Highest Rain Rate 123.8 mm/hr at 4:47 PM on 01 December 2010
Highest Hourly Rainfall 14.2 mm at 5:09 PM on 01 December 2010

The rain last for only 10 minutes.

I wasn't at home at the time, but heard about it on the radio as I was coming home from work.

Bob
