I'll believe the -8 in December but 31.7 doesn't seem like an "in the shade" temperature. Unless you have a shady place away from walls or other heat source, or have a decent Stevenson screen, direct sunlight will raise the temperature reading by several degrees. The F.O. little screen doesn't keep much solar radiation out.
I agree with you, it's a little over where it should be.. The temperature is still in the basic Maplin N96GY housing, it's about 3 feet off the ground and in the shade of a fence so it should be quite good. When i get a minute i'll have a look at what I can do to calibrate it and / or improve the location. Thanks for the comments.
