New records today 18 Jun. 17

Highest Temp 31.1c previous 30.8c on the 30 June 2015

Highest Apparent temp 33.4c previous 31.9c on the 28 June 2012

With the heatwave continuing these could be broken again this week.

Though what we could do with is a decent storm to clear the air.

This station's all-time June temperature was broken this afternoon with a maximum of 30.1°C. First time we've had 30C in June since 2009 when I started keeping records.

And only 5 other times over 30°C in July. Looks like 5th highest of all time...

Enjoy,
Paul

Almost right Paul. ;) Today was the 7th with a max of 30.0 or higher. Still pretty impressive at 53.5N. Impossible to say whether the all-time 32.1C will go this year but it has been a very warm year so far with the average 1.8C above the 30 year average but with the caveat my garden is sheltered on three sides as opposed to an open Met Office site.

A new station record for me. 31°C on the nose. That is the warmest it has been in 11 years.

Were people allowed to dispense with their ties at work? :D

Anyone crazy enough to wear a tie in this heat deserves the roasting they got! :)

And now revise the high to 121.2F (49.5C) at 4:28PM, and it may go higher. Low this morning was 82F (27.7C).

Given the high temps in England gentlemen were allowed to remove their jackets at Royal Ascot. Ties must remain however. There are standards when you are watching horse racing with the Queen present. :D The US has a more relaxed attitude. With those temps I'm not surprised. :o
