Considering the difference in latitude the temps here are remarkable for this time of year. We're at 50-53N, sth Georgia is 32. ;)

Try adding 20F to your averages and that will give you some idea how exceptional the heat is.

0.4C cooler here today and the wind has shifted to the W. :( I suspect the temps have peaked today and over the next few days things will return to normality all too quickly. Maybe 24 hours later down south.

In a week's time when we have the heating on this will be just a distant, but very nice, memory.

Not just there in the UK it's burning! More to the South in Portugal, living 400 metres high I'm getting 33.2ºC  The whole of Europe is burning to hell. I miss the Winter. :(

Spain as well - today's report from our local "official" weather station included the following:

"Highlight the maximum temperature yesterday, the highest in Estartit in October, at least the last 40 years. The maximum was 30.2 ° C to match the maximum temperature last summer (12th September). So far the maximum temperature observed in the month of October had been 29.6 º C on 3 October 1987. remarkable also exceptional maximum of Torroella, yesterday, the 31.6 ° C had only been reached during the summer at 31.9 ° C for 21 and 22 August."

If this is Fall - I love it!

L'Estartit is in the North East corner of Spain. Torroella is 5 Km inland from L'Estartit. Take a look here: http://www.wheelocknet.net/cam/index.htm?gb You might even catch me taking a swim.

We've had some goofy weather across the pond too..

Got down to 32F (0C) Friday early morning. Was in the 60F's (16-20C) that day. Saturday (Yesterday) the low was 40.7F (4.8C) and high was 80.7F (27.0C), a record for Daily Temp range for me.
