Looks like the UK is going to be hit again this week with strong winds and rain.

Apparently upto 70mph down here on the Kent coast....wish I had fitted that extra jubilee clip to the mast now

It's become very windy here in the last couple of hours but what I found exceptional was the pressure change.

3.18hPa/hr - falling very rapidly. :o

I too am seeing a rapid pressure drop: -2.5 hPa/hr

And have just had a wind gust of: 26.6 mph @ 20:32

I installed a thicker top aluminium pole for my weather station last
week with a wall thickness of 3.2mm which is holding up well in
these higher wind conditions. Just hope I don't wake up tomorrow
and find the side wall of my shed ripped off ;)

Well it's certainly wet and windy here... two new records so far.

Highest Wind Gust 40.3 mph at 20:05 on 12 December 2011
Highest Wind Speed Average 28.0 mph at 20:10 on 12 December 2011

Just a normal day for Steve.... But considering my sheltered location quite rough!!!

I've had the following new records (Records began on 12 February 2011)

Highest Wind Gust: 29.8 mph at 04:03 on 13 December 2011

Highest Wind Speed Average: 23.8 mph at 04:07 on 13 December 2011

Lowest Pressure (sl): 982.8 hPa at 03:49 on 13 December 2011

You can see from the graphs below that the weather started to get bad for my area
from around 06:00pm when the wind picked up and the rain started:

Also the river that is very close to me has had a lot of water dumped into it from the rain last night:

No new records here....the best I managed yesterday was:

Highest Gust of 34.9mph at 7pm
Rainfall = 9.99mm

Since midnight:
Highest Gust of 34.2mph at 2:46am
Rainfall = 11.4mm

I don't think my equipment is exposed enough.....surrounded by too many buildings to give a clear line of sight
