What's going on with Wunderground?

Post by Spider-Vice »

So lately mine and a few other weather stations have been disabled from the maps temporarily, thing they do now but in my case completely unfairly. It didn't happen since the Summer. It happens that currently it's around 9 degrees in here, and it was 8 on another weather station that was disabled. Where I live has a lot of potential for thermic inversions and winds will immediately warm up wherever the zone. This also happened during the Summer and I contacted WU support. It happens they told me the temperatures were too high compared to a NWS station which had around 10 degrees... Which was false, I went on the portuguese weather service website and the temperature was completely fine. They kept disabling it and I kept contacting them, the excuse is always the same. I've never seen WU doing this before and I'm wondering if anyone is in the same situation.

This is my station, and obviously it shows NaN and it's not in the map, yet graphs are updating. Disabled. I'm getting pissed off at Weather Underground honestly.

Wow, that does sound a bit rough. My temps usually read a little high due to the location of the sensor but I've never had a problem with WU.

I seen a few places in my area that also report higher than it should do and I have not seen noticed any trouble with the reporting of those stations.

Hello chaps,

I am not sure but I think that I too have seen the same thing. I have only recently added my PWS to WU (around 48h ago), and it was working fine, but in the last hour, my "Sticker", Rapid Fire and location on the WunderMap have all stopped working, yet data continues to be uploaded as it appears on the history.

It coincided with me adding a feed to Met Office WOW so I though I had screwed up a setting, but maybe not...

Any pointers as to what I can do to rectify this greatly appreciated.

Spider-Vice,

Your Sticker data seems fine now. Mine continues to be broken as of 14h14 CET, history is fine.

It seems I am back online. As you said Steve, some transient issues at WU.

I don't think so as I've emailed them before and they say I have too high temperatures at night (While that's not really true being 'too high'), and problems since Summer hmm? Anyway it's fixed now but I can see it going disabled again tonight. :?

Hope they get it fixed soon.

One of the reasons I moved to Cumulus (from Davis Weatherlink) was just that. Suddenly my WU station would disappear from the local PWS but would still be being uploaded just fine. I sort of determined it had happened when I turned on "rapid fire"/realtime in Weatherlink.

So, I'm guessing it has something to do with reception of the data on WU's end. I don't know if that helps, but if your computer goes to sleep or can't connect for some amount of time, that might do it.

I've had no troubles in the (almost 1 day) that I've been using Cumulus to upload weather sites.

It may not be to do with reception at WU's end. I recently had to ask why all of my old data had been 'removed (I have been on WU since around early 2000). My account was only showing from approx Sep 2009.

This was part of the email I received back:
I have started the process of rebuilding your database, so it should be back to normal within a few hours.

Thank you for your support!
And - that was it! No explanation as to why the data wasn't viewable, just 'I'll rebuild the database...'. They still only have from mid-Mar 2001 - so missing about 16 months of data from their site but not going to press too much over that as I have all my records here back to 1983...

So it may be worth everyone just asking them what is going on
