Too much data - I'm confused!

Post by hungerdunger »

This is probably something I should be able to sort out for myself, so apologies in advance.

I have a Maplin N96GY (WH-1081). Until recently records would be added to the monthly log file (e.g.Feb18log.txt) every 10 minutes while Cumulus was running and every half an hour for periods when it wasn't.

A few days ago the console reset itself for some unknown reason, and since then when Cumulus isn't running records are being stored for every minute it was shut down (see screen shot which shows Cumulus being started at about 11.34). In practical terms this means that each time I restart Cumulus it takes about 10 minutes to download and process the data during which time I can't access Cumulus, and it is producing unnecessarily large data files. (I usually shut down my PC in the late evening and restart the following afternoon ).

I know how to adjust the normal 10 minute interval but I can't work out how to stop the records being produced every minute while Cumulus is shut down. Can anyone help?

Not sure if this is the case but it is highly recommended that the datalogger interval and Cumulus data interval are set for the same time as otherwise it may take a long time to download at restart. See http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/FAQ#Cumulu ... t_start_up

Enjoy,
Paul

As well as what Paul says above if you look here http://sandaysoft.com/downloads at the bottom of the downloads is a program that Steve wrote to set the logger interval in a Fine Offset.

Many thanks to you both. I've carried out both your suggestions, and the station is now working as I want it.
