R: "Spash screen"

A Splash screen would suit me fine. I just need to hold on to a viewer long enough to start up the gauges. I have noticed my site sometimes takes 10 20 seconds to start the gauges. Not always but I guess during high traffic times it lags. I have checked out a few others using the Silverlight gauges and their start time appears much quicker - so I expect it is my connection, my host, or the round trip from Spain to the server in Texas and back. I am certain it is nothing to do with the software, my machine, nor will it get any better.

Still getting it Steve (your site - Line 683 posn 85)

Interestingly I tried opening a new (duplicate) window, and even though the original had been refreshed and displaying, the duplicate failed !

This is very disappointing :-(

I'm nearly ready with the next version, I think I'll release that and see what problems there are before trying to fix it.

I have successfully installed the Silverlight Realtime Graphs and have updated my web pages to include a link to the Realtime Page.

It all appears to be working correctly. You can access the page directly at: http://pooleweather.t35.com/weather/Cum ... ltime.html or through the website at http://pooleweather.t35.com/weather

The only problem I am having is It says 100% (and keeps animating) but that's it. However; a refresh seems to clear it.

Yes, this is problem that many people are seeing - if you look at the error console in your browser you'll see the error. I have tried every way I can think of to reproduce the problem here (new installs, different browsers etc etc) and it always works perfectly for me. We'll see if the next version helps.

I've installed v1.0.0.2 on my site here:

http://sanday.org.uk/weather/CumulusRealtime.html

Could everyone please have a look and see if you get any errors? You'll probably need to refresh to get the new version, make sure it says 1.0.0.2 at the bottom.

Works fine in IE8 and Firefox 3.0 for me. I particularly like the "Splash Screen" - a great help for my slow site. I would prefer the units selection to be made internally - if the user changes the setting the time chart resets. Not really certain the time chart is practical as it relies on the page being open for a period of time before it is useful - it is neat, however, and adds some animation. I just wish there was a way of reproducing the historical wind rose showing direction and speed as a polygonal graph from the realtime data - that was very useful for my viewers (sailors, fishermen). I like the change data info for pressure and temp. It might be useful to include humidity if it is not already in place.

More later as it has time to gel in m mind.

But the whole point is that the end-user can view the data in the units he or she is familiar with.
if the user changes the setting the time chart resets.
Yes, there isn't really any way around that, other than going through the set of data points and modifying them. Actually, that would be quite easy to do...

I'm thinking of introducing an extra realtime file in Cumulus containing the data from the last hour, which could be plotted on separate graphs.

Works fine on IE 7 & 8, Windows XP SP3. I like the splash screen and other options available.

Takes slightly longer loading but, I feel it is worth the extra few Seconds.

It's looking good, then - that's a relief. I'll make it available for download shortly.

Yes, this is always going to be an issue with this sort of thing - the more features you add, the bigger the file gets and the longer it takes to download.

I look forward to installing the next release.

I thought it best, to be as detailed as possible when giving my view of the experience when reviewing a new realise.

Thanks for all the time, effort and hard work you have put into making Cumulus as good as it can be. I would have to say that, even Microsoft which I have done some work for, would spent this much time perfecting something like this. I always Microsoft, quite unhelpful.

Regards

Same 100% problem in Ver. 2 for me in both Flock and IE8. Ver. 1 worked OK in IE8 but not in flock...getting worse. Maybe something different in my system. Reload and/or refresh doesn't make it work.
