David the only thing I can figure is this old brain saw the
cumulusrealtime.xap file and expected to see cumulusrealtime.xml in the left hand file list.

If I would have used the snipit tool I am sure I would have seen it then.

Again sorry for the wasted forum space.

Have you got Windows set to hide known file extensions? That can get very confusing, it's one of the first things I change on a new Windows install.

It's Windows trying to be smart -- if it knows what the file format is it will hide the extension and use a description. Same with the HTML and Text file.

Whereas it had no idea what the XAP file was so listed it with an extension

Yes, I hate that, so I turn it off :)

I just made the change. Thank you for the suggestion.

Odd though, I did a search last night and windows did not find the file. I wonder if the search cannot see the file after it is unzipped or maybe it could not see it with the file extension hidden or maybe  I goofed that up too.

I had a chance to work on realtime tonight. I stumbled a couple of times but it is up and running now.

http://mybaxleyweather.localweatherview ... ltime.html

I used 30 second updates to work with the fine offset.

Really nice looking gauges.

Thanks for all the help.

Now it is off to try my hand in customizing the Cumulus standard pages.

The only problem with 30 seconds updates is that Cumulus RealTime shows your the "loading data" message for the first 30 seconds so it makes it look like it has hung. :(

Yes, the best Fine Offset stations can do is 48 seconds, the rate they transmit to the console.

Yes, it's something I need to address when I eventually get back to doing something with this. It's just much easier to program the way it is now (just start the timer).

You are right about that. The wiki did suggest a typical setting of 15 seconds. I just changed it to 15 seconds. Of course I forgot to change the xml file the first time

At 5 seconds, does that use a lot of bandwidth?

I do know that the FO is a 48 second update.

No, the bandwidth for realtime is tiny, and only relevant when someone is viewing the page if you only change the interval in the XML file

You are right about the 48 second FO update, but for Cumulus Relatime I would set it to 5 seconds for now just to get over the "loading" problem

The five seconds did made a big difference.

Always interesting.
