Hi Brian

I have decided to finally do an update. I just have a couple of queries.. is the sql side of things still not available? I see it says WS1001/CUMULUS users now..
I cannot seem to get my wind units in mph. I have changed every single setting and refreshed the page but it still won't change to mph. I checked my settings with the previous settings1.php and they are exactly the same, so i'm not sure what's happening.:oops:

Fixed.

I spot some overlapping with the forecast panel.

I've just spotted (from the pic) that I have two Sunday's, one in KM/H and one in MPH and Monday is KM/H

I've cleared all caches and I deleted everything before uploading the new one.

good morning

I can only replicate this overlapping when in easyweathersetup you have two items set to true

Tell us where your are so we can convert the charts. very important set only one box to true set all others false (important to set each option do not leave blank !!)

that is the only time I see overlapping but it clearly says very important set only one box to true set all others false

as for database its there for future reference in time I will work with Tony HRVISTA to have the cumulus mysql version available but probably not going to happen for some time . I am working now on another project when the hardware gets cleared at customs here in turkey , its stuck there but hopefully it will clear this week. in short I have a school project I'm doing over there festive break later this month.

anyway nice to see your still around bug hunting :-) but check your easyweathersetup its easily done ..

have a nice day Brian..

Brian hello
I have a question about mm and cm.
I suppose that if we have rain billow zero the pws calculate in cm.
But how if we don't have rain and we have snow and the rain gauge can't count the snow unless if it has heating.
Regards
Vaggelis.
I have make a system that works for me very nice. Tested for two years.

hi vaggos

impossible for me to digest any of that absolutely no understanding of the greek language .I get what your doing from the heated element I think from the photos but as far as adding formulas to the output

its easy enough to generate a a formula for example if temp <0 && rain>0 = snow we the simply convert the mm to cm if this is the realtime scenario

so
5mm of rain and temperature <0 = 0.5cm snow
so 25mm of rain and temperature <0 = 2.5cm snow

but is it that accurate ? never tried to measure snow based on melting .

Hello Βrian
Thank you for your answer.
Your calculations are somewhat correct. It depends, of course, on the density of snow. Different is on the mountain high, different in the city. The relative density is different. I've calculated that with one millimeter, we have 2cm of snow. Only to be measured will it have to melt on the rain gauge.
I use two simple 56 ohm resistors that bring the temperature to the rainfall at 46 degrees. So the snow melts and the measurement is immediate.

Vaggelis

Code: Select all

In addition to my Davis rain gauge to which I have no heater, so rain is recorded when ever the snow in the gauge melts and that could be days later, I also have a CoCoRaHS gauge and use a snow board as well to manually measure and send the snow and the snow water equivalent (SWE) each day to CoCoRaHS https://www.cocorahs.org/ViewData/ViewD ... 9230552c2a While the rule of thumb is SWE = 1/10th of new snow, in reality it can fluctuate by double or half that 1-10 ratio depending on the type of snow. Last winter season, 2016-2017, we had 32 days with significant new snow fall. 8 events had SWE within 10% of the 1-10 ratio, 15 events had SWE at lower than 1-10 ratio and 9 events had higher than the 1-10 ratio.

I'm a new user of the "Weather34" template and a new forum member. I recently installed version CU-X7WXSIM and have it up and running. It can be seen here http://indiantrailweather.com/pws/ The template provides a very refreshing graphical presentation without all of the "cluttered" detail. A pleasing supplement for my site. I've been using Cumulus for a little over a year now to supply data for my WXSIM forecasting. Thank you Brian and Steve. The best to all forum members ...

Hi Brian.

has two weather alarms from meteoalarm today and one (the longest) was longer than the pop up window again.

valid from 07.12.2017 10:00 CET Until 07.12.2017 19:00 CET
Wind Awareness Level: Yellow
Storm Caroline is expected to bring a spell of very windy weather to much of Scotland and parts of the north of Northern Ireland on Thursday. Gusts of 60-70 mph are expected quite widely, with gusts to 80 mph possible over high ground and around exposed coasts. Road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible. Some short term loss of power and other services is possible. It is likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves.

Another new one tonight that does not fit inside the box.

valid from 08.12.2017 01:05 CET Until 09.12.2017 19:00 CET
Snow/Ice Awareness Level: Yellow
During Friday, increasingly frequent snow showers already affecting parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England will extend across many other northern and western parts of the UK. 2-5 cm of snow is likely in places over the warning area. 10-20 cm is possible for some locations, mainly in northern Scotland, Northern Ireland, north Wales and perhaps the northwest Midlands. Icy surfaces are also likely to be an additional hazard, especially overnight. The heaviest and most frequent snow showers will progressively become confined to northeast Scotland during Saturday. Possible travel delays on roads

Made some minor changes if it gets any bigger then might have to just have drop it, as the mudule can only cater for so much content and if you make the text smaller it becomes unusable for anyone with impaired vision . attached a zip with eualert.php just replace existing file .download has also been updated.anyway thanks for keeping us updated as the alarms are not available or valid here in Turkey

it appears meteoalarm is just adding more and more as the weather continues to worsen.

Hi I don't use the MeteoAlarm script (as in Australia) and not looked at it either.
Though is is possible to use say "strlen" and standardize the output text size (truncate to whatever amount of characters) and leave the popup size alone.

Example of how I use it:

Code: Select all

    if (strlen($titletitle) > 70) {
        // truncate string if greater than 111 or 200 characters
        $stringCut = substr($titletitle, 0, 70);
        // make sure it ends in a complete word and add ... at the end
        $titletitle = substr($stringCut, 0, strrpos($stringCut, ' ')).'...';
    }

stringcut.PNG

Then depending on your script you could add a href link to the source so viewer can click and see the original source as per my image.

As mentioned I have not looked at the script and it may not be relevant, just thought I would add my 2 cents worth anyway.

What does the script do when there are multiple High Level Alerts, does it just display the last (or most extreme) etc.
here in Australia we can have anywhere between 10 to 20 or more at times, so In my other templates I just display all (but Titles only) :
Example (Which are direct links to each source alert etc). There's not many right now but as Example only:
alerttitles.PNG

Note : Brian, I'm glad you are busy with your other project as I am snowed under with work and family right now and come Jan18 will be away helping an old mate sail a yacht down from Cairns to Mackay (my old town in Qld) then back home in Tasmania late Jan18 or maybe early Feb18, so have no time at present for MySql Development (all I've had a spare bit of time for is getting my own site back online).

kind Regards,
