Hi Brian,
Just another note to self: I'll have to look at trying to automate the DST changes in the Sun / Moon scripts when I get time.
We changed from AEST to AEDT Sunday just gone and forgot until just know to check and change the UTC offset and the moon offset (they where 1 hour out).
Also just a note for others to remember as well, I have checked a couple other sites that need adjusting too.
Kind regards,
Tony

I've not seen the code, but the general rule in astro calcs is to do all your calculations in UTC. Only ever use the local TZ when you want to display data to user, and the usual date/time functions will convert from UTC to local TZ for you. Virtually everything uses UTC (or "system time") under the hood anyway.
This is easy when the code is running on a client, if you run on a server figuring out the clients TZ is normally the tricky bit.
If running client/server, then pass the UTC value to the client and convert there.

I'm using version CU-X5 and have never been able to get Solar data to work. I've tried solar1 and solar2 with the same results. The cloudbase height is way off and the graph is blank. Any ideas?

Sent you PM with my fix for the DST Automation.

I have been able to get most of the graphs functioning using cumulus mysql. So now have Year/Month/Day for most.
Just the odd ones not working, too late here now will have to find time tomorrow to try and fix.
http://hrvistaweather.com/pws/index.php

And also have the old wxwugrapgs now all feeding off cumulus mysql. http://hrvistaweather.com/weather/wxwugraphs.php#

Nice work HRV!

I'll PM you, re the wxwugraphs, as this was something I didn't get around to doing. :)

Geepers that was an old post,

Hi Mapantz,

I decided to play with the old wugraphs / CUMXGraphs / MYSQL version again.
Finally have it running (after all the PHP and Mysqli changes) for :
1: Daily
2: Monthly (except Precip) that's a nightmare.
3: Yearly (not got there yet).

I think I'll ditch the Monthly / Yearly and re code the entire thing for just Daily as I prefer that.
Still a long way off completion, though thinking about possibilities ............ along the way.

good morning

sorry for not regularly replying been preoccupied installing some hardware and getting my head around it and I have to say
having two pieces of new hardware one is a OREGON WMR300(now in use) and a Davis VP2 (will install next couple of weeks) im struggling
to see the differences in these two pieces of hardware , there are so many similarities but Im guessing the readily avaolable options for the Davis
makes it different but out of the box without any optional extras there so similar and the price difference is quite large .

i paid 349 uk pounds for the oregon from https://www.weathershop.co.uk/shop/weat ... er-station , i did not buy the Davis it was sent along for a project but it would cost me 599 UKP Pounds. quite seriously I would grab the oregon at this price if you
want to move up from the fine offset and other low cost enthusiast units .

a photo of mine setup on our roof note Im totally exposed by sea for 270 degrees so it will takes some battering during the winter months .
my old ws1001 ambient i think eventually would have died when I took it down the wind vane completely snapped just by holding it had become
so brittle from the 2.5 years of UV light which is very strong here for many months a year , in fact it crumbled in my hand and I think if a bird had sat on it it would have just snapped..

Image

anyway Toxic please send along your css files I will modify them for your request , I have no football for a week :-) so sincere apologies for not doing anything sooner.

Tony thank you for all the files , WUGRAPHS i used it a few years ago but I will reluctant to use it further as I have sneeaking feeling future or even
now the php 7.2 may break it . so please accept my apologies for not wanting to using those or dive into the setup of them but if your happy then thats
what matters.

Brian

Thanks for the offer, but it was merely for a Gen 1 Ipad to show a desktop tiled view rather than the tiles on top of each other. it would have been nice to look at locally, but that was it.

not to worry.

I think also you may find you pay for better Support in the initial cost with Davis. If your VP2 is fairly new it may also have the new rain cone and SHT31 Temp Sensor. I doubt Oregon will upgrade theirs.

Will be interesting to see the two stations side by side and see their outputs.

Valid point about support but living here in turkey it’s irrelevant support is non existent.so the additional 250 pound overhead just for support is not worth it.but I see it as valid for those living in supported countries. are these upgrades free for your older Davis hardware ? Or is it an additional cost for the upgrade path . Davis or Oregon I looked at the pros and cons and a lot of it boiled down to support and brand name unfortunately here in turkey support is not a buying point.
I paid aprox 35 ukp through our home insurance for two years old for new policy . That’s about the support I’m gonna get here .

Just have to way up personal circumstances and I’m not taking anything away from the Davis hardware it’s a proven product just can’t justify the additional 250 ukp extra plus import tax and customs clearance. The Davis vp2 in this climate would need to be the FARS .

I’ve finished making my own FARS for the Oregon wmr300 using a low current 6v fan driven by 4 Duracell aa rechargeable batteries connected to a small solar panel I bought here for aprox 10pound . On the bench it works well just need to long screws to hold the shield together .

So far i am impressed with the Oregon wmr300 but it’s early days yet..

At £349 it’s a bargain and good upgrade option to move up from the all in one type weather stations or lower cost stations.

Yes it is definitely a good price. I wonder if the insides are replaceable with Davis spares if something goes faulty?
