In defence of IE, IE9 in native mode seems to be pretty standards compliant to me, and IE isn't the only one to implement lots of browser specific 'extensions' to the standards - all the "moz-xxx" features anyone? It looks to me like all the browser authors have seen sense and seem to be converging back to common 'standards'.

One thing I prefer about IE9 over Chrome & FF is HTML5 canvas rendering - it is the only one of the three that implements anti-aliasing on hardware accelerated graphic output. Though they all probably get it wrong, the choice to switch anti-aliasing off or on should be up to the page author (as it is in Flash) not the browser writer, and be dynamic - switch it off whilst animating large areas, switch it on for static/small animations.

Hi Robert,

You know, I have a computer diploma since 1990 and was stuck with IE because I work in a "vocational high school" (agriculture) and we have to spread "standards". But in the later years I have try Opera Portable on a USB key and like it.

But in the past year I have time to learn web technologies... and discover Firefox. However, I have already tried it in the past years and was not able to find any better side... But as developper, I have discovered the trio "Firefox, FireBug and YSlow"... and now I hate IE! (but always conduct test with it)

With that trio you can debug a site to find problems, to be more respective to standards, to be speedier... then attractive!

NOTE: This post has not been sponserized by FireFox or any other else!

Jacques, you might want to have a look at a fairly new browser, based on 'Chromium' (the internals of Google Chrome). It is called SRWare Iron - very nice and much less friendly at giving personal information...

Hi Ray,

I've visited this link and wasn't on security impression
Site smaller then my current templates, plain basic Google AdChoices advertizing... Forum nearly inacessible because windows are popping.... I win an egibility to win iPhone 4!!!
Really not confident with these agressive sponsorizing!

Not seen any developer side facility, so prefer again FF! But it's for my development Pc; and don't go banking or buying with it... and I do fresh format regularly!
Firefox having 1000's extensions and many on security enhancement!

But browser are a matter of taste!

Jacques

Okay. I got the Blues modified somewhat for my purposes.

* Added a secondary navigation menu for external links. Will be filling it out more in the days to come. I could not put a secondary nav menu on the gauges page as it half buried the:
Weather Blues Template, by Météo du Québec and fully buried the Instruments view line behind the gauges.

Of course the rotation banner/header is now local to my area and also the slideshow.

On a side note I did find a different wordpress theme to use for my main site blog section. So now compatibilty view is no longer needed. :)

Note to self: still need to find a way to get away from that cursed metric system on the site now. lololololololololol

Hi Robert,

If you need only 1 or 2 links more, you could shrink your main menu a little bit to add it!
In your menu, just add a line like this:

<a href="infos.htm" class="but" title="" style="color:#ffff00">My E-Book Site</a>
(See that I have used style= with just color change, but you could do lot more!)

in styles.css, play with that line
.but {
padding: 0px 14px; // I have squeeze it to 14 instead of 20!
}

And you know, "Weather Blues Template, by Météo du Québec" is not a copyright, you're supposed to change it to!

Hi,

I've began an "Customize your Weather Blues Template" page (for Dummies).
You could consult it here: http://meteoduquebec.com/weather_blues_custom.html

Hope you hours of fun!

Jacques

Hi JacquesD,

I think that it is great that you are taking the time to write up a how to customize the template. It will help a lot of people and probably cut down on the questions if people take the time to read it.

Thank You for already including in it the part for the transitions on the banner. That was the next thing that I was going to attempt was slowing down the change times to slow it up. With your directions I will not have to strain my brain figuring out how to do it. :)

Thank You also for the pointer on how to add a few more links in just the main navigation menu. Though I figured out how to do it I saw that the single one would not work as I will probably have more than two external links. After two links the writing gets to small to draw attention.

I am lousy at creating a template from a fresh start. I used to be able to do it with ease but my brain is just getting to old. LOL! But I find I can still take someone elses already done template and beat/bend the heck out of it to try and get it to do what I want it to do. :)

Once again Thank You for creating these great looking templates!

If you see with attention, you'll see that templates are from Metamorphozis, content of template is from Cumulus template slideshow script from nivoSlider... And son on! Then I've just "glue it" together!

... And you know for age... I'm on 50's doorstep! (Where those eyeglass again?) 8-)

Jacques, the German Translation for Weather Blues Template is ready to be uploaded somewhere.
Do you like it to put it on you own website or do you like it to be posted here or somewhere else here.

I think, You should talk to Steve if it is possible to add a new SubForum in Website Developent to post ready to go Templates here.
It's so difficult to find a hint to the WeatherBlues Template within this threat on page 9 - where it can be downloaded.

I think Steve would be okay, to create a new subforum to post Templates and it's translations :-)okay, let me know, where I should upload my Weather Blues template

jan

Since his weather web site is current, I don't think C will work.

Also with the trends page, the data is in C instead of F. I really need it in F as this is the US and that is what we go by. :)

I may wind up using the regular gauges and trends graphs on the gauges and trends pages. That is about the only way I see to be able to do everything in F.

Thanks for a great template! I seem to have a small issue. On my weather web site http://sixmileturn-weather.com/ I added radar, and forecast, the problem is "the radar link does not work on a mouse click but works fine on my phone.
I used this before and had the same problem, it worked when I first implemented it, but somewhere along the line on one of my updates, I broke it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It seems to work for me (in FF). Sorry, what exactly is the problem?

I can't find the radar link. The homepage never finishes loading and there is no clock and a timer over the header image.
