Hi!

As we don't want anybody to be able to "scrap" translations done or "in completion" state.
I have finished Step 1 : Secured registration form.

You have to identify yourself and an E-mail will be sent to you with a link to validation page.
Because, we don't want hackers to join us, then this is not an automated process.

After, I have to accept validation process and you will be confirmed by e-mail, as member.
By that way, no one could subscribe as "Translators", without autorisation.

Then, I invite all interested to complete Step 1 : Registration in homepage.
link: http://meteoduquebec.com/translation

I'll now work on Step 2 : Character Set validation (to follow)

Happy New Year to all,
Jacques

Hello Jacques

As far as I know (and I am nearly sure) utf-8 was made to build all signs from all languages. So if you are using utf-8 in your planned templates, you should be fine.
for example, Java is already in utf-8 (please correct me when I am wrong) also PHP should be ready for utf-8. So if you are using UTF-8 for the future, you are prepared for all upcoming languages.

If some people who already applied to translate Jacques Templates into other languages and you are currently registered at his web page and you are trying to make Step 2, please use Google to search for: "Pangramm text" in your language. Pangramm is text which contains all characters used by your language.
for example myself used the Text: Welch fieser Katzentyp quält da süße Vögel bloß zum Jux? and choosed utf8 and I passed the character test on Jacques page without problems. All characters (German Umlaute) were displayed correctly.
Jaqcuqes, if you are using UTF-8 you will be safe.

Hi Jan,

I'm sorry to made step 2 mandatory. Because I know that UTF-8 is supposed to be "the savior" but I haven't try it myself in many language. Firstly, I've made all my web files to utf-8, but for Cumulus projects, I have always weird characters as Cumulus generate iso-8559-1 text. Then for French it was far easier to stay with "us-continental" charset!

Then, I have force myself to fine tune my skills about foreign languages and study a little about that and found that we don't have ONE UTF-8, but MANY! See picture.

utf8.jpg
Then with a list that long I need more "real world" infos!
The charset is the "foundation" of any web pages... and like "foundation" of a house, if it's not perfect, the whole house will suffer from that!

When I try to look at it in my console I see anything but foreign characters as you can see :

utf8-a.jpg

Then I want it as perfect as it could be!

Jacques

Weird....
Does your console try to read utf-8 as iso?
The first row looks like that one that I wrote, an the characters I saw look fine to me.
And not like these.
