Hi,
I've downloaded the "Weather Blues" Template (which is awesome!) and try to increase the information on my website with additional [TABS].
Succeeded in several ones (working on adding the information), however getting the link done to my NOAA files is a REAL struggle....... :roll:
I followed instructions in the forum, but get more and more confused between "directories in server, HTML, PHP and so on (remember, I'm a total rookie when it comes to web design....)
All of my (html) links need to be uploaded in the public_html folder on the web and are successfully configured in Cumulus-Configurations-Internet-Files.
Works perfect for everything, however NOT so for the NOAA reports, automatically generated by Cumulus. (they are in the [reports] folder, however -of course- in .txt format).
Who can help me out here???
Much appreciated,

Thanks
Arthur

I'm having great problems reading anything from your site ATM.

The one time I did get your Index page to completely finish downloading (Your clock isn't working, and you have --> trailing one of your </td>) the link said altonaweather.host22.com/NOAA-reports.php, however, this tries to bring up a 404 page but ATM it never appears !

Are you using the PHP reports viewer ?
Does your site handle .php ?
Have you uploaded the reports to your web site ?

If so have you configured the .php correctly as discussed here: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=5754 and within the comments inside the file itself ?

Looks like it is:

Initiating server query ...
Looking up IP address for domain: altonaweather.host22.com
The IP address for the domain is: 31.170.160.189
Connecting to the server on standard HTTP port: 80
[Connected] Requesting the server's default page.
The server returned the following response headers:
HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Date: Sun, 27 May 2012 00:43:32 GMT
Server: Apache
X-Powered-By: PHP/5.2.17
Connection: close
Transfer-Encoding: chunked

Query complete.

OK, now I can get in your site !

Although you have now changed your NOAA link to a non-worker,
but this: http://altonaweather.host22.com/NOAA-reports.php works !

Hi,
Thanks for the message, Beteljuice!
Indeed this works, but still many questions remain.
- How do I configure Cumulus/Configurations/Internet/Files?
- The web directory [Public_html/NOAA-reports] contains folder NOAAMO0512.txt which I manually uploaded according instructions. Today is Sun 05/27 (am) but the file which is automatically uploaded (as usual) to [public_html/NOAAMO0512.txt] doesn't appear in the NOAA-reports directory.
- Which extension do I enter in my noaa-reports.html? Currently I have:
<a href="noaa-reports.htm" class="but but_t" title="NOAA">Noaa</a>

FYI: Before 2 weeks ago when I switched from WD to Cumulus, I had never seen a html document "inside" (although use internet a lot)
In other words, totally "green" in this "language!! By starting to use Cumulus with easier web-page creation, a new world has openend!! It's a steep learning curve, but very interesting and I hope to get the most out of it!!
Any guidance is much appreciated!!
Thanks,

Arthur
(Clock should work now :D )

Hi,
It seems "the later -or earlier- it gets, the better results" (now 2:35am EDT).
However, it works and that's Awesome!!
Question remains: I uploaded (manually) the file NOAAMO0512.txt into my [publid_html/NOAA-reports] directory and it shows May 26 as last date. (= correct)
How do I configure Cumulus that the reports after midnight are automatically uploaded into this directory?

You also mentioned I have indeed a "->" trailing on my main page. How do I get rid of that?

Thanks
Arthur.

On the Configuration -> NOAA setup screen, tick 'Auto save after daily reset', 'Auto FTP after auto save', and put the path to the folder in the FTP directory box; you probably want to put

public_html/NOAA-reports

It's here:
Code:
<tr class="td_data">
  <td>Humidex</td>
  <td>16.5 &deg;C</td>
  <td>&nbsp;</td>
  <td>&nbsp;</td>
</tr>   -->

Your page says it uses a charset of iso8559-1; shouldn't that be iso8859-1?

<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=iso8559-1" />

Arthur, you might start with smaller 'baby' steps before trying to modify the design of a full web page/site. The 'Weather Blues Templates' are somewhat a bit more complex (complicated) than the pages produced by Cumulus and thus, for proper modifications, require good knowledge of HTML and CSS.

steve wrote:

The proper format should really be 'ISO-8859-1' as defined on the W3Schools HTML Character Sets page or on the HTML <meta> http-equiv Attribute page, such as:
Code:
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1" />
It is my understanding (I might be wrong on that and someone is bound to correct me :oops: ) that if/when a browser does not understand the charset it will use the default charset in the user browser's installation.

Your link should refer to the .php file, not a htm file which does not exist ;)

Read, read, read - viewtopic.php?f=14&t=5754

The majority of your questions are discused here: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=5754
